I'd love a 720 but the finances aren't that flash at the moment. When I get a 550 I'll definately be sticking a 720 on that unless the 3G improves ALOT over the next 6 months. Fingers crossed.

Anyway back to the lab for more experimentation.

Default 3G system

I bought one of the first 3G systems and one of the positives then was that it was suppose to be a plug and play system,as we all no that was about 50% of the case and also align did a maketint exercise by trying to beat the competion, now we have the 3G download and it has many functions and I now think align will endeavour to make it the best system as the chinese do not like to see loss of face i know this having spent years working inH/K.

Default Settings File

Well after a little fiddling, help from some guys on ARCHeli and a new ICE 75 ESC () here is my first settings file.

My Tx gyro gain is 71 in idle-up (2600rpm) total gain in 3G software tab 36.

These settings have reduced the tail wag to almost zero, still some minor tweaks to do but this is the best yet.

Enjoy.

Thanks for sharing your setup file. I am still hoping that once someone "cracks the code" as it were, we will get a laymans terms guide to 3G programming.

To summarize this file, The AIL and ELE changes are roll rate and he added stop gain which I don't recommed at this point. It's harder on your servos. I'm current'y staying away from it for the time being. Why not lower the other gains first to resolve any bobble issues. As for the rubber he lowered the lock gain which is really good for getting rid of the wag during hover. Everything else is default.

Just sport and aerobatics. You don't have to go through the servo limits setup after changing the settings. Just change them and fly.

Cheers,

Here is my 500 file. Keep in mind I'm running a high mechanical gain. My balls are on the second hole out on the 510 servos. This is further out than Align recommends. I'm also running my gain for my rudder higher on my radio.

Cheers,
For sport and aerobatics you can have your gains + or - 10 on the AIR ELE gains and not see much difference. It's the hard stops where the gains become important. Hard tick tocing will also show if the gains are off. Hurricans and funnels will show bobbles if the gains are to high.

For example you can sport fly with a tail gyro in rate mode without any problems. Trying to do a backwards hurrican in rate mode is a different story.

Thanks for the tips. I was wondering if you could move the servo balls out further on the arms as you have sine I get binding on the servo cases for CP and aileron with a moderate amount of -ve pitch and some cyclic also fed in. Also do you use the servo balls with the stand-off or the standard ones on the CP and aileron servo arms?

I suppose you would lose a little bit of torque and resolution having the balls further out on the arms. Does it make much of difference besides having to change the 3G settings alot more to compensate.

Cheers,

Heath

Thats why I moved them out. I was hitting the case as well. I'm using the stock balls on the arms and out swash. I did change the inner swash balls to the shorter ones that come with the kit. These balls go to the linkage that goes up the the grips.

Do that for your total gain. Then adjust your lock gains for your flips, rolls, rainbows and loops and so on. I did some testing today and found for people using expo, it's better to dial it in with the software and leave your radio expo to 0. It seems to have a better feel.

I'm still testing the stop gains for AIL and ELE. If at all possible try to keep it to 0, but if need that extra " stop " feeling. I wouldn't go above 10. You can get that extra stop feeling by running a little more cyclic and collective pitch. I did a bench test and you can feel your servos get warm as you turn up your stop gains up high, so this has to be adding wear to the servos. Stop gain can also create bobbles on hard stops.

I'm running an ICE 75 and I have it mounted on the right side of the frame as per the Align manual. Some guys have mounted it under the battery tray, but its a little cramped with my drop tray mod.

Hey guys, nice work with the settings. Just wanted to mention I've created a tool to share your settings. It's a website looking exactly like the align software and you can upload your exported settings. After that uou get a unique url wich you can use to share your settings which makes it easy to preview the settings before using or downloading them.

Check my signature for a example!
