Minor bug - I believe that the MSH Protos main gear is 93T not 97T, see here: https://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=110375

93 teeth on the Protos is correct

My HobbyCentral program also has a simple headspeed calculator
You can launch multiple copies of the function to compare different setups at the same time
You can type your target headspeed in and it will calculate the pinion for you
Use the right mouse button over the main gear field to get a list of popular e-Helis,
choose one to have the main gear entered for you...

Nice alternative calculator, Jafa! Looks like a good addition to get multiple calculations for comparisons.

Kenneth, I got the gear size from someone else that claimed my previous value was wrong so I'll change it back to 93. When I was originally looking for the value it was hard to come by so I'll trust you on this one and then upload a new calculator.

Haven't been working on this much because of too many other distractions in life with work and personal stuff but it should be quick and easy to make a change and upload this quick fix later on.

Had lots of ideas about how to enhance this and make it plug into a networked dbase of motors, pinions, helis that could be updated by the user community but its just not in the priority queue at this time.

Would be nice if one of these HS calcs allowed you to put in your Throttle curve and have it display what the HS will be.

Today they all just display (guessing here) what the HS is at 100% throttle, but I run a governed 85%. be an easy calc to say what the HS will be at 85%.

The problem in trying to achieve that is
it relies on people calibrating their ESC to the TX end points (many people don't do this)
and it's not always a linear response - we would need a lot of data on every ESC
It's just not worth the effort considering how easy it is to sort out at the field

All the hot 3D setups on small heli's tend to need and use all available power
so knowing what HS you will get at 100% throttle is what we want.
Also, keeping the ESC wide open at 100% keeps it cool

Added version 1.0.10 of the calculator tonight.

Modifications are:
1. Added motor and gearing for the Trex 250
2. Added gearing for the Mikado Logo 600 mod 1.0 (106T)
3. Corrected the MSH Protos gearing (now 93T)

Can be downloaded here:
http://www.brucerc.com/downloads/HSCalc.zip

with a description of the changes here:
http://www.brucerc.com/software/hscalc/version/

Still haven't added any new features... way too many other things going on.

Default HSCALC....

Hi Bruce...

Just found your calculator after using the online ones....I like it very much.
As an old application programmer myself, I would certainly add a tab to the interface
that would allow folks to input their own data (common type i.e. motors gears etc.) to help suppliment
your installed data. This would be very easy to do and would eliminate that sort of maintenance for you...

Remeber Bruce, the best programmers are lazy ! ;-)

Just a thought,

Ty

I love the battery calculator feature which makes it easy to calculate flight times!

A big help would be if the applacation could remember the last input of the capacity!

Greetings from Austria
Martin

Thanks for the suggestions. I've been planning a feature to add/edit custom information and even download community supported information but its taken a back seat to other priorities.

Libelle, I thought it would remember battery capacity but I'll need to look into that and see what's happening.

I'm hoping this summer will give me more time to tinker.

Also, I started looking into porting it to the Google G1 phone. Anybody out there have one and interested? Seems I can make it easily work with that porting process on the iPhone as well.

Thanks for using the calculator,
Bruce

You are right Bruce, it was my mistake!

You have to close the application with the [OK] button, if you close it with the red [X] it does not remember the last settings!

Thanks
Martin
