Yup, if James can't figure it out, it's not fixable

I'm sure all the guys at Esprit are trying to help sort these issues out but remember they are simply an importer/distributor. As such they can only act as a relay between the customer and the companies they represent. They are in no position to "fix" anything that may be SW, FW, or hardware related. That can only be done by the engineers at the factories.

Spirit just put out a new 1.3.2 release. In the release notes it states "Better EX Bus compatibility with REX receivers". Hopefully this helps solve some of the problems you are having.

An interesting twist. Does that mean that there was a problem from the Spirit side of things? And what about the tragic episode with cbdane who was using Vbar? This is not resolved yet.

We know as a matter of fact that it's not a Jeti design flaw!!!

Jeti does not have any problems with they (Ex Bus) protocol and devices. All receivers connected to the Central Boxes are working fine.

It really comes down that 3rd. party devices cannot handle the speed of communication with REX receivers and they new faster processor.
Looks like simple solution will be just slowing down the data flow, but that will be up to Jeti.

So are the spirit devices fast enough to handle ex bus now? Both regular and pro versions? Because you mention processor speed.

We have released the firmware update to fix different, minor problem related with the new transmission protocol and is absolutely not solution for this issue.

I don't want to express my thoughts publicly, but I disagree with some statements here.

So is it safe to run REX receivers with regular spirits and spirit pros?

I am convinced that yes, since there are many pilots with REX receivers for very long time without any problem.
There is just one known instance of the problem, but we can't make it more safe from our side..

My Spirit is on its way to Munich and the main reason was the integration with the Jeti transmitters. Now I'm worried that I risk too much using a REX transmitter which would allow my to connect also the JLOG GW at the same time.

Question:
- what is the real issue and if on your site can nothing be done are you in contact with Jeti regarding this? What is the reaction from Jeti?
- could I use an R9 receiver instead an REX and still get the possibility to configure the Spirit from the Jeti transmitter? (many it seems like a stupid question but I just changed from Futaba to Jeti...).

Sorry to border you but 700 size Helis are to dangerous to take any risk..

my Spirit on its way to me. The reason why I bought it was the integration with the Jeti transmitters. Now it looks like there are major problems with the REX receivers in conjunction with Spirit.

Question:
- if I use e.g. an R9 with EX protocol can I still configure the Spirit from the transmitter?
- You say mentioned that the problem has to be fixed by Jeti; are they aware about it and working on a fix?
- What is you opinion? Is Jeti taking this problem serious?
(I just switched from Futaba to Jeti and now I scratch my head :-))

Many thanks in advance,

Ulrich

You will need the REX if you'd like to use Spirit integration/Ex-bus AND have jlog telemetry at the same time. With the R9, it's one of the other, but not both.

Hi Ulrich,

you can still go for the Expander which allows up to 4 telemetry devices at one time....old fashioned but doesn't require a REX....

Gruesse,

Gruesse,

Unfortunately this does not work. The expander does allow to connect more telemetry devices but does not work for Spirit integration. For that with the ability to connect telemetry a REX series is the only way to go currently

Jeti were meant to be working on an updated expander that would work with the EX bus integration but I have asked on the RCGroups forum several times with no response. For those of us with a lot of RSat2's and R3's this should be a much cheaper solution than replacing all of our Rx's with REX versions.

Anyone updated his REX already?
Did it solve the problem with the spirit integration, or wasn't this necessary at al and gives the update only some other extra features?

I guess everything has to work fine as it's setted up like this?:
Spirit - version 1.3.2
REX - version V1.01
