E640...one step closer to flying :)
I have an N640 flying, and now working on getting its hippy brother in the air
Still need blades, servoes, RX, FBL unit, and Lipos. But today I picked up a CC120 ESC to power the scorpion motor. Went with the helical gears and I am aiming for 12S power

E640...one step closer to flying :)
I think you'll find the E640 is a very nice flying heli. Century has a winner! At first I had mine setup 1800, 2000, 2300rpm, 640mm blades and it was pretty hot. Now I'm running 1500, 1800, 1900, 640mm blades and liking the feel a lot more... 6-7 minutes flight time on 3300ma12s batteries.
Look forward to hearing your flight report.

Being from the lower mainland MotorRotor you had better get yours going so you can haul it to the field in your Prius will sipping on a bottle of 5.00 water to wash down the granola bar
Sorry Phil I could not resist

Motorotor is going to pull into heliseast in a prius? He better bring some manly heli to avoid the teasing he would get.

LOL - no Prius here...only gasoline and diesel powered vehicles....neither are fuel gusslers though.

If I did, it would have to be a rented one.

Re: E640...one step closer to flying :)
June 1st is all the fun Phil. Colin and alan should put on quite the show with their align 800e's. I am amazed he didn't get align yo sponsor the entire event with 2 of their team pilots there.

Quick update,
E640 finally did its maiden yesterday. Had some bumps with programming the Castle ESC and Skookum 540...still need to dial in the skookum as the tail was behaving as if it were in rate mode. I have made some changes I believe will fix the issue. Running HV hyperion servos on the cyclic with a CC 120amp BEC set for 8.0 volts, stepped down for the tail and RX using separate regulators set to 5.0 Volts. A BLS 251 on the tail. 640mm Rotor Tech Main Blades, 95mm Rotor Tech tail blades. twin 3300 6S Thor lipos setup for 12S from the Heli Farm (Thanks Dennis!) The very first thought I had when the heli got off the ground was "holly crap this thing is smooth!". No vibrations at all, just like its nitro huffing brother. Insanely stable and easy to control even without dialiing in the Skookum. The 12S gives it balls of power, 12 degrees pitch climb out and not even bogging down. The ESC only recorded a max output of 85% of its capacity. It picks up forward speed ridiculously fast, just simply an amazing machine to fly, just like the N640. I wish I had more then two sets of batteries! I set my timer for 5 minutes and got the lipos down to 20%, I will adjust it to 4:30 just to be on the safe side. Below is my Century Family photo right before the maiden flight (just in case!). It is wearing the stock blue/silver canopy, which I found blends in very well with the sky! So I have just finished fitting the optional green one.
