Its not very good for his flying style, so he's not really a fan of it.

no wonder he kept saying in the video he won't be doing a lot of flying videos of it. i bet he couldn't wait to remove it after making that video.

If he wants to chuck it I'll take it of his hands! Used price of course

Okay, so what "flying styles" benefit from FBL, or from Align's super-simplified FBL, and what about Bert's "style" makes it not perform well? Has Szabo given an opinion, or just shown some videos of flights without any comment? I've only flown for a year, so I have only seen maybe four "styles" of flying:

afraid of crashing (newbies)
everyone else who can do a few flips or autorotate
hot-dogging mid-air spaz (pilots sponsored by hobby companies)
time/matter physics distortion field (tariq alsaadi)

Hmmmm, I'll put myself somewhere between the 2nd and 3rd category.

Just finished watching the video, I didn't notice Bert saying anything negative. He didn't seem overly fired-up about it, but that's just his personality the best I've been able to tell.

He did say that it does tic-tocs effortlessly, does on-the-deck type of 3D similar to being on the sim, tracks well and stays where you put it, less drag, etc. Sounds like a winner to me. As far as not really being a fan of it, he's sponsored by Align isn't he? He HAS to be a fan to some extent. Again, I didn't get anything negative out of this video........it's just another thing that makes me want to buy it.

Being a 3rd year pilot that started at 56 years of age, FBL is absolutely exceptional for my style of flying. I just converted my second heli and I am sure I will not have another heli that is not built with it.
The video on the setup looks super easy and of coarse the price is very good with the head included. I am sure it will be a big seller for Align and I praise them for spending the time and money to develop it.
It will do nothing but improve our hobby.. IMHO that is..

look on his website. he specifically say he's not a fan of flybarless systems. my impression is it doesn't seem like he meant it was a bad system or that there is something wrong with it. he simply preferred the feel of the conventional flybared rotor system. that's what i like about Bert. his candid honesty

I couldn't find it, but I'll take your word for it as I didn't dig very deeply.

it's on his front page right now under the description for this new system.

"I recently received my pre-production sample of the Flybarless system from Align. Even though I am not a big fan of flybarless systems, this unit looks awesome. It is very small and it comes with everything you need to convert your heli to flybarless, including the complete flybarless head assembly as well as the flybarless unit itself. I will be shooting video soon, mainly focusing on showing the unit along with some setup tips.
I have been told it will be available in the next few weeks. Align is releasing a unit for the T-Rex 500, 600 and 700. T-Rex 250 and 450 units will be released in the future."

again my impression from this quote is purely his preference.

I'm very anxious to read reviews from others that own Vbar or other systems. So far every review I have read has been from an Align pilot. Im ready for an average Joe review.

I have a Mikado on my Trex 500. I honestly seem to fly it better than my 700 or my Vibe. I hope the 700 flies like it when I get the 3G installed.

Did you not read EdvardR's review??

He is not an Align pilot, and by his own words is an "average joe", and he has both VBars and SK360's.

Yea, I have read his review. But he is only one. I'm still waiting for more.

I posted some of my feedback on his thread as well. I am not an Align factory pilot.

Let's just say my 600 flew so well, I order a set for my 500 as well.

I can say that I would love to try the new 3g system. It looks very easy to set up and seems to work great. I agree with all the others about seeing an average joe leave feedback. I however am a little concerned about the 3g. Pretty much all of your other flybarless systems have some sort of pc or terminal interface for programming. Has Align developed a new technology to not need this? I mean look at mikado, skookum, rhondo, etc.. If it works as well as they say i'm all for it!

This is from someone who's been reading about the product, but has no FBL units or experience using them. So maybe I'm wrong on this, but...

It seems that they basically simplified the system to handle a very limited range of head geometries. Their best-selling geometry. No virtual paddle adjustments, no delta adjustments, no complex logic to do custom cyclic mixing. They assume your swash is 120 degrees, and your radio is giving 120 degree CCPM for the three swash channels. If your head is like that, boom, it will work well. If your head is not like that, then you'll have troubles or at least you'll miss the configurability of other units.
