Hawk Pro - Electric ?
Hi guys, new user with a few questions.
Got a Century Hawk Pro 3 years ago, and had a slight mishap on my first try and helicopter got slightly destroyed (It never got of the ground, just fell over on the side), got it repaired, but never used it again, got a bit afraid of it, to be honest. Been trying to sell it for the last few years, but there is no market for nitro helicopters apparently anymore. Was googling around the other day and found out Century made a mount so its possible to convert the Hawk Pro to an electric heli instead, and i must admit it tempts me very much doing so. Here are the questions, ive been reading that a 1100kv brushless engine would be a good choice in direct drive, but is there maybe something that will make the heli easier to handle for a beginner ? I'm sorry about the beginner questions, but i would really like to learn how to fly that helicopter, and put it to some use, instead of catching dust. Kind regards. Ronni.N |

The 1100 kv and 6s is a good option for direct drive. The thing that will make it easier to fly is finding a experienced heli flyer to help with final setup and test flights. A properly setup and trimmed hawk is a excellent trainer.

It did fly before i bought the heli, not sure how much is knocked out of alignment after the mishap, the following things was changed: Feathershaft Mainshaft Tailboom Tailgears Blades and everything else survived, i guess what i'm fishing after, is a little help checking everything is at it should be, and then converting it to electric, and learning how to trim it myself. Kind regards Ronni.N |

So after a few days of thinking, i'm more tempted to go for the 800kv option, and use the clutch drive, but i would still like to get the heli checked before tearing into it, what would normally go out of alignment after a soft crash ?
