Default Absolutely bloody amazing stuff

Finless you’re the man, bought a T-Rex SE bought all the hear to put in it, then downloaded every vid you made. Watched them all. Then whilst building watched then again during the build. I went out this afternoon to have a little fly. Ended up doing more 3D then soft gentle break in flying. Cant say thanks enough, there’s nothing worse then getting to the field only to find something’s not right and having to spend all your flying time fixing and tweaking…..

I only have on question. You stated that you don’t recommend using the Gov mode on a align 35amp ecs. Could give me any ideas on throttle curve, I ran today with a normal 0,50,100 (I do have a 7 point curve but didn’t use any other points. My stunt mode was 100, 80,100, it seemed ok, im running Flight Power evo’s 2150, standard 430l

Thanks for all the time you’ve given all the t-Rex fliers

These are the curves I run for max performance.
Normal = 0 50 80 90 100
Idelw 1 = 100,95,90,95,100
I know guys that run a flat throttle curvt with 100 accross all points.

I'm new here.
First of all, THANKS BOB!!!! Those videos are great. Although English is not my native language I understood every single word you said and of course did manage to fly the "bird". The T-Rex SE is very stable (like the big ones) and tons of power.

MrFixit, I had the same problem with the 11t pinion. I'm flying with the 13t now. As soon as you have a solution please let me (us) know.

Thanks.
Luis.

PRICELESS!!

I would have been paying someone else to set up my heli to learn all I did for free here.

Thanks Bob!

Thanks to Finless for these excellent vids, my rex is flying perfectly after following them.
Anyone know what tools are used here? I am fed up with the std 90 degree hex tools, and the tools used by Finless looks very good...

Thx

Thank you for your excellent videos. I really loved them and they have helped me successfully set up two TRex's. What would have been helpful to have covered was techniques for shortening servo leads. It can be a bit daunting and tricky for someone who has never done it.

Thanks again for your great videos!

"Replacing the Auto Clutch". Great as usual. Two minor questions though...

1) I figured you had to use some green loctite when putting two metal objects together. I'm glad you didn't, because I did my last one that way, then destroyed the bearing trying to get it out when I had to fix it the next time.

2) Not sure why you had to do the spin test to see which way the clutch worked. Can't you count on the crimped side with the charactors on it always being the same direction?

Thanks for the great vid!

Rick

Default gyro menu

Hey Bob, Ive followed your vids step by step setting up my bird, Until now.
Im at the part in setting up gy 401, Where it prompts me to go to gyro menu on my 7c. I cant find that menu anywhere. Did i miss something? my radio is 7cap wich should be the same as radio your using, Except airplane is default instead of heli. Im in hr3, should there be a gyro menu?
Thanks Skip

Hold the mode key to enter the menu. Now press mode again to go into the ADVANCED menu. There should be a gyro menu there on page 2.

Pitch and Throttle Curves for 3pt radios.

When I was looking for advice for a beginner radio setup I had some feedback that anything less than 5pt curves was a waste of money. In the end I bought a Spektrum DX6 (which only has 3pt curves) since I love the interference immunity of the 2.4G technology.

Having watched your P&TC_101 I am convinced they are wrong and I can closely approximate your 5pt reference config with 3pt.

Pitch - Normal: 40 50 100 (approx, aiming for -1 to -2deg low-stick)
Thrtl - Normal: 0 85 100 (equiv to 5pt: 0 43 85 92 100)

Pitch - Stunt: 0 50 100 (linear match to 5pt: 0 25 50 75 100)
Thrtl - Stunt: 100 85 100 (or maybe 100 90 100)

There is also throttle hold (auto-rotate) mode which I guess should be:

Pitch - Stunt: 0 50 100 (linear match to 5pt: 0 25 50 75 100)
Thrtl - Stunt: 0 0 0

Obviously some of the figures will need tuning based on flight performance as per your instructions.

One reason I was given why 3pt was no good was that you couldn't use it with the ESC governer mode - is that correct ? Even if it is, you advise against using the governer so it's not a problem.

Does this all seem about right ?

Not sure what you mean here? Wrong? I use the curves I suggest as do many others so I know they are right...

Yep looks pretty close.... The issue with the 3 point curves is in NORMAL mode... As you come in from forward flight into hover you will need some negative pitch to bring it down (especially in wind) and doing so you will be WAY down in your throttle curve and thus RPM will drop dramatically. So the work around is to stay in idle up until you get into the hover then switch to normal and land. That is the issue I saw with the DX6 and normal mode with 3 point curves.

I dont know as I dont like governor period. But yes it might be a problem in NORMAL mode as stated above.
