Default Brushless options

I just wanted to ask the more experienced members what the best options are for going brushless. I would probably favor just sending it somewhere to have it done right but if there's a decent plug n' play option I would consider that as well. So far I haven't had a motor fail on me but I'm looking for more stability in flight.

I'm aware that some members are offering to do a brushless conversion (for a fee of course) and would like to know who comes highly recommended and the costs, etc.

Thanks in advance for any information from those who have already done the conversion.

Why is that?

Bear in mind that the so-called "plug and play" kits carry a not insignificant weight penalty, due to the extra wiring and connectors involved. The Nano weighs only 29 grams to begin with, so adding a couple of grams to it is going to be very noticeable. Doing a custom installation, where wiring and connector weight is cut to a minimum has a very positive effect on AUW (not to mention the added reliability of solid soldered connections) and IMO is well worth the extra cost of admission.

Let's see, $67 with shipping for an Astroid kit, couple of hours to install the kit and set it up, plus return postage and the time spent to and from the post office. You're talking a net of around $25 (maybe) for the effort involved, not including testing the final product. Sounds pretty damn reasonable to me.....

I would agree that sounds pretty reasonable to me though some might want to do the work themselves. I think I'll be sending to NNcraig for the conversion as I want it done right and want the best set-up. I will report back with the results.

You're right, for those willing and able to do the work the $$ involved in labor is pretty much a moot point. Considering the amount of money some of us have in this hobby, though, raising issue over $25-$30 for what realistically amounts to around 3-4 hours labor is pretty much barking up the wrong tree...

BTW, you will NOT be disappointed in Craig's work......
