I usually fly at the start of runway 15L of the
now closed old Ellinikon International Aiport (LGAT),

I like this place more than the SEF flying field

I know the place but traffic and distance keeps me away from there.

Here's a flight of my newly acquired Ricco. It took me 10 flights or so to get a good feel for the floaty-ness of this heli, but I'm really liking it.

It's got a gy520 on the tail. Piro maneuvers are so much easier with a gyro that has a consistent piro speed.... I never knew how inconsistent my 401 was until I flew this!

Here is a flight on my 3D Plus. This is my first heli so nothing crazy. Just feeling it out and translating my sim skills to real life. This was my 18th flight. Did some stall turns, loops, backwards flight, Inverted backwards and forwards, Single piro flips.

I was flying with sun in my face. Camera gal lost it once for a few seconds, but otherwise the vid turned out better than I originally thought it would so I decided to post it after all.

this is me doing a 3d flight sequence on my simulator.

3d helicopter sequence (3 min 25 sec)

credit where its due - it is basically the same sequence as the one flown by alan szabo on the youtube video "TRex 600 Helicopter - Amazing Tricks" . the one set in a desert somewhere that starts with someone saying 'is that with the new super motor'

im not sure what the consensus is on 'copying' . personally i think its defensible as 3d flying is so difficult that copying things that inspire us to lift our game is ok, as long as the original person is credited if major originality was involved. copying one of the great pilots certainly forces you out of your comfort zone. it forced me learn many really odd new manuevers and morphing transitions, and its now alot of fun to fly all through. its also made me really appreciate how difficult it must be to think up the complex and imaginative sequences that turn 3d heli flying into a real performance art form. respect

btw, how do you get the video to play within this post. ive done it before but it didnt work this time so i must have got it wrong somehow

its called 'rc helicopter simulator'. the only sim for non intel macs, like my ibook g4.

its a basic but surprisingly decent little sim. could do with some extra features like autos and crash damage though. they never seem to update it though. last update was several yrs ago

im planning on a macbook pro so i can run phoenix
