Is it possible that the manufacturer uses a light sensor to measure the speed? It would be interesting to know how they arrive at their speed claims.

I emailed EMS Jomar's website a few days ago, and he read it! Never gave a reply. I ask if he had any time frame for the servo tester. I would think he could have at least said he was not sure of a date!

It doesn't seem they are in any hurry. Maybe contact CBDANES and ask him!

Sorry for the delay in responding. Yep, you may be right. It may end up DBD, it all depends on Electronic Model Systems. I made 10 prototypes (with much more functionality than the one described in this thread) and gave them as gifts to flying buddies at IRCHA this year. Maybe it won't go any further than that. Not sure where the little angry face comes from; I didn't start this thread nor have I tried to promote the tester as a commercial product here. I needed it for my RC tool box so I designed it. John (Mercuriel) was talking about measuring servo speed in another thread so I sent him one to play with. I'm just a hobbiest like you having fun.

Peace.

BTW: I had a great talk with Angelo (Spartan Gyros) at IRCHA this year (gave him a prototype) and he told me that he already has plans to copy my servo speed functionality into one of his own products. Maybe that'll be your answer in the long run.

Brent's a good guy with a cool tool. I hope it works out.

Thanks for the reply Brent - hope EMS do come out with a version - it's proved invaluable to me - thank you for allowing me to have a play with it

As CBDANE has said he's just a hobbyist in it for the fun so please don't hassle him - send your polite expression of interest to EMS

I'm closing the thread for now but will re-open it if a prodcution model eventuates.
