Default Main Gear Pin .

I have changed Main/Tail gears numerous times throughout my V120 ownership going back to orginal V120d02. It is simple process. However with my V120D02 V2 the pin looks shorter and its a super time fit on Main Gear. I used to be able to push out the pin and take off the main gear. Mines is so tight I can't take it off.

Anyone had this problem or did I get a bad one from factory?

Is there easier way to take off the pins from Main Gear and Rotorhead? I use to use a small pliers and pull it out but seems V2 has a much tighter fit.

This can be really challenging. I have had luck using a pair of pliers and "pinching" one side of the pin while resting the other jaw of the pliers on the hub/inner most part of the black plastic main gear. This can move the pin a bit and hopefully get you going to be able to remove it fully. After getting it out, I've used a grinder to tapper one end of the pin before replacing it-to make insertion and removal easier in the future.

Hope that helps!

some of them are just really tight torch8, heli-b has the right idea, a pair of pliers really helps, but even then some of them are a pita.

I sometimes had this problem with new main gears. The plastic wears in a bit over time but that bloody pin can be the bane of your existence. I broke a main gear hub trying to get one out once. Now I have a couple that fit nicely but I've gone through several. When you do find one that fits nice don't lose it. You could also try getting some piano wire that size and making one that fits better, or if possible sand the tight one a little if you ever get it out.

There was a thread on here a while back about using different metals to make a sheer pin to keep the tail gear from stripping out in a crash.
