Pl6 Storage Charging
I'm using the 'all brands storage charge ' preset, and it takes a long time to discharge my 6s 3800mah lipos, when doing 6 lipos in parrallel.
On the discharge tab is shows discharge amps at 10.00a, what should I change if anything to safely discharge in a reasonable timeframe ? |

The discharge rating is to 10 amps or 50 watts, which ever comes first. Six 6s packs can store ALOT of energy. It just takes a while to burn off that amount stored energy. You can increase the discharge abilities by using the regenerative discharge feature. This requires a Pb battery, and may also require an additional load such a few automotive lights. There are only a few chargers which have higher discharge capabilities built-in. The Powerlab8 has 100 watts, and the 4010b has 200 watts. Some have built an external dischargers which can also help.
A couple seasons ago, I switched over to field charging. I only charge what I will use and seldom need to discharge. This also allows me to keep far fewer packs for each model.

I have two car headlights in series for faster 6s discharge. It takes around 20 minutes to discharge a 6s5000mah pack to storage level.

Yeah, they were all charged up and then something come up and couldn't fly, then the snow / wind / rain for the next couple days.......oh well, rather discharge than have them swell up on me.
Interesting about the headlight idea though ! |
