V1 vs V2 Parts Compatibility
Hi All,
To the guys that have had both V1 and V2 heads. Can you comment on the compatibility of parts. I have a 550 V1 FBL. All the parts listed on Hobbyking are V2 (TDT). I need a Branch Arm of the blade grips. but all they have is the TDT version MyRCMart have the original listed but have been waiting on stock forever. In all likelihood they'll never receive the stock because the V1 part is out of production. Am I into buying a completely new head? And mainshaft? Edit: I just realised that the V2 uses an 11mm main shaft instead of the 10mm that my V1 uses, so I can't slap the V2 head onto the existing shaft. I'd have to change the head, main shaft, main bearings, one-way bearing, tail pulley and all the spacers and stuff. Gee thanks KDS, you guys rock. Now I get to throw-out a heli that has 30 flights on it.

Don't throw it out. The parts are not that expensive. I converted my V1 700 to a V2 at minimal cost. I now have 2 of them both V2 and I love the things. If you are intent on trashing it just trash it to me and in 2 weeks it will be a V2 and flying like a bat ouf of hell

1) I don't like DFC. Everybody including KDS is having problems with these. 2) The cost of converting it is more than a brand new HK 550 FBL TT airframe.

I have never had a problem with the DFC style head. As for the second comment, I won't even go there as that is compairing apples to tangerines not apples to apples. Please understand I am not trying to be rude, as they are two entirely different machines.
