Hi guys,
Just back from knee surgery this AM. Second time in 6 years. Hopefully this time it works. My point in bringing this up? There's a fair bit of trial and error in a lot of what gets done (and only God is perfect, e.g. the rest of us are doing our best). Believe me, I have serious hopes for making this work. Otherwise I would just say forget about it because I am a realist (plus I hate folks blowing smoke up my skirt and thus, refrain from engaging in the practice myself). Anyway, the reasons for the delay in getting back to messing with this project are varied, and I recognize they'll mostly sound like excuses so I'll hold off on elaborating overly much but here's a small hint . . . the servos have kept me inordinately busy the last two years. Frankly, I didn't know squat about servos when I got started and unlike how it goes when merely relabeling something, I've been very involved in all aspects of this product. Moreover, while I'm an engineer, the facts are I'm not an EE and thus, I've been depending on the goodwill of some really smart guys (for the electronic bits of the project). Bottom line? This all takes time but ultimately, I really believe the payoff will have been worth the investment of these particular grains from my personal hourglass because what I'm managing to put together are some more than decent offerings, which won't break the bank. Cheers,

Hope your recovery from surgery goes well John. Thanks for your efforts on the servo front. I'm appreciating mine. Jim

Like I just mentioned to a friend via email . . . this is my second go around with the same knee (last time was 6 years ago). All this by way of saying it's not my first rodeo so I know what to expect. Anyway, I'm still feeling fine (the miracle of chemistry, e.g. I'm still on pain killers) and I know the discomfort won't begin in earnest until tonight. Moreover, I know it will diminish greatly by tomorrow afternoon, and come Monday I'll be well on the path toward healing. By late November I'll be back to riding my bicycle (the only exercise my fat ass will regularly do - I'm 56 and at the age I have to quit playing games regarding loosing weight) and thus, soon enough this will be just a memory. Anyway, thanks for your concern.

Almost hit the BUY button on the new os 15hz 600. They are in stock from rc Japan and if I did my math right converting from yen to US dollars its right around $380 shipped. I know it will be a drop in fit for the pantera then I realized I hacked up the cooling shroud of my frames to make room for my batteries. So if I decide to go this route in the future I will have to order a new kit, then I will have a gasser and electric. I am so torn as what I want to buy and am kicking myself for ever taking the nitro motor out of my pantera.

Do you know how much fuel you have to consume to make the numbers work? Man, just drop a 55 into a bird and go have fun. Anyway, I have an OS Gasser to play around with but won't get back to the project until the weather breaks and begins to get warm again.

I have gotten rid of almost all of my nitro stuff except for what is sentimental or not replacable. the main reasen being the mess they leave behind after flying them seems like I spent more time cleaning then I did flying. Wasn't that bad on the planks but there's a lot of nooks and crannys on a heli that need to be cleaned. I just might have to get another glow motor in the meantime until a reliable gas option comes available, it beats sitting waiting for batteries to charge.

Are you using a ProMuffler, and does it have the exhaust diverter installed? This, in my opinion results in a fairly clean model. Not perfect, of course, but decent.
Anyway, my technique for cleaning involves spraying the model with Simply Green and blasting it with high pressure air. Naturally, you need an air compressor for this purpose.

Mine is electric currently but when it was nitro I had an os 50 with an outrage pipe and a diverter. It wasn't copletely smeared with slime but the rudder servo and tail section got pretty bad. I like that simple green and compressor idea ill have to give it a try.
