Question Can you guys help with 6 cell charging questions?

Hello all, I just maidened my new (used) Trex 700E DFC HV (and it was awesome!!), but I have realized that I need a better charging system- I have been using the micro chargers for my micros, and recently bought a Turnigy Accucell 6 (this was before I acquired my 700E) and it had worked well for charging my 1-3 cell micros, but it is majorly lacking for the big 4500 MA 6 cell Batts for the 700E.
I need your advice on what charger/power supply I should use-
I don't need a 'field' charger, as I walk 10 to 15 yards out of my front door and have more than enough room the fly the 700.
What I really need is a plug into the wall charger that will charge at least 8 amps for 1 of the 6 cell batts. My main question is what the heck do you guys use? And is a 'power supply' just another name for an adapter that plugs into to wall? I really don't want to go the 'deep cycle battery' route unless I have to.
Who makes a plug in the wall 120V or even 240V charger?
Thanks!

im not sure any of them come with a good power supply

one thought, and this is what i do is get two pc power supply's and do some reading as most of the time one psu needs to have its ground cut to join them up in series so two 500w psu's would give me 41 amps @ 24v i believe plenty enough for me and my chargers needs

Hey thanks for the reply! It just seems to me that there should be a simple solution to this, I mean it can't be all that complicated can it? You can get a 120v mig welder.. And that plugs into the wall without a seperate PSU, Dang maybe I should 'invent' a single unit that plugs into 120v and charges at like 30 amps @ 25.2V (15amp on each Batt with EC5 conectors) That would be awesome! LOL

There are many options but here is a few

Power supplies- efuel, meanwell
Chargers - Revolectrix PL8, Hyperion720.

Just a few but will be more than enough for your application.

I picked up a two server power supply on eBay for $80 shipped and it has been holding up ok so far. It's 24v and around 1400watts.They are also sold on RCgroups ready to use at a fair price, just check their feedbacks before you buy. And I just use an iCharger 306b, I've been told they are easier on the power supply and my generator. The gen I use is a Ryobi 2200-Watt Gasoline Powered Digital Inverter Generator, I know you said you don't need one, but if you ever do, it seems like a good gen and at $600, it's a lot cheaper than the Honda or Yamaha.
Just what I use, everyone has there own favorites.

P.S. I think one reason you don't see the bigger chargers with built in power supplies is because it would have to be a lot bigger and would probably be in the $300 to $400 range. Just look at that welder and its size and cost.

I have the setup he mentions above. I think that the is good enough to max out or almost max out a PL6 I think you need more power to get max out of the PL8 just double check if you reall need the extra power but if you never plan to charge a 8s battery just get the PL6

Slayer8888, you said you were going with a good power source. 24 volts is a minimum, especially with the Powerlab (assume you're talking about the PL8 (fantastic charger!!)). Higher voltage will keep your wire temps down. I use a Meanwell RSP-1500-27 which does a great job charging 6 5300 Gens Ace batteries in parallel at one time. If I had it to do over I would have gone with even higher voltage power supply.

Hello Santos, see this is where I get confused, every other electronic device I have ever seen you need to put a specific voltage to it, or it fries, I am not at all doubting what your saying, I am just very confused about these chargers and 'power supplies', wouldn't the power supply provide a specific voltage, and only the watts would be different on certain models? And you would need to match your power source voltage to what the charger is set up for?

I'm about ready to go nitro LOL (just joking)
Thanks!

The PL 8 will take up to a 32 VDC input.

Selectable charge rates range 10mA to 40A

Continuous maximum output power rating, 1344W @ +26.35VDC input voltage, 612W @ +12VDC input voltage

Using +26.35VDC to +32VDC input, 1344W output will deliver full current rating (40A) over the full range of output voltage up to 33.6V

With the 700 you're eventually going to want to charge a bunch of batteries so solving the charging issue now will be time and money well spent.
