Default onyx245 with hobbyking parallel charging board

Hi guys!

So I have a hobby king 2-6s EC3 parallel charging board:
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...dProduct=24475

Which I am using with a Hyperion charger without issues. I'd like to use it with my onyx245 as well. The problem is the onyx is a 2/3s only charger, and the balance port only has four leads. The onyx comes with an adaptor board from 2-6s balance leads, but only 4 leads are connected on it. The parallel board has a 6s lead. Connection wise I can plug the adaptor into the onyx, connect the board to the adaptor and charge my 3s batts like that. Question is does anyone know if the cells will be connected properly for balancing that way? If no one knows for sure, how can I find out with out stripping wires on my adaptors and leads? I can get one of those voltmeters that checks connectivity I guess, but I'd like to avoid having to buy and solder jst connectors just to check this if possible.

Any ideas?

Thank you!

You should be fine. The standard JST-XH pin out is cell 1 negative to pin 1. Cell 1 positive to pin 2. Cell 2 negative to ping 2 and cell 2 positive to pin 3. It just keeps counting up based on the number of cells in the pack. The upper pins are just not used.

As a check, display the individual cell voltages on your charger during a charge. You should see all three.

Thank you! I'll try that and see what happens when I come back home and charge later today.

Just wanted to post results in case anyone ever comes across this in a search.

So I hooked it all up as I wrote in my original post, scrolled through the data screens and saw all the slightly different voltages on the cells and am now charging with no issues.

Thank you very much for your help Gregor!
