FitBit and compass calibration
I recently started wearing a fitbit to monitor my sleep and heart rate.
While doing testing on a quad 8 with a WKM FC, I could not get the compass to pass calibration. I did the dance twice, then decided there must be something seriously wrong as I've never not been able to do a compass cal. My very first thought was the fact that the fitbit bracelet downloads data to your phone, constantly, via Bluetooth. So I removed the bracelet, and just to be safe, the phone from my pocket, and placed them about 10 ft away. The compass then calibrated perfectly and the aircraft flew as expected. The next day, at the request of DJI support, I tried it again. And again, with the bracelet on my arm the compass would NOT calibrate. Removed it and all was well. Now I've done compass Cal's on concrete full of rebar, standing next to a metal building, even hanging from a basketball hoop, I've never had an issue. So, if anyone out there is having an issue with calibrating a compass, be sure to remove electronic devices from your person, then try it again.
