If you have a Align 500esp or flown one you will be disappointed with the HK.
More so if you skimp on electronic, hey the trex 500 esp just rocks .

jonp HK is always like that, they take there time and thats just the way it is. Its not like a mom and pop store stateside that is on it! Now even the smaller stores are like that over there.

[[[[ If you have a Align 500esp or flown one you will be disappointed with the HK ]]]]

this arguement is almost 3 years old when the copterx came out in the 450 class. with good electronics it flies exactly the same and the 500 wont be any difference. The good thing about this kit is you can outfit it the way you want not what align decides to sell you.

Heres the head and tail I would get, Now there are no reviews yet because the 500 clones have not been out long enough for these combos to rack up a few hundred flight as of yet. The cheap 450 heads hold up dang near as good as the align heads and i see no difference why these would not hold up well.

or you can just get an esp and sell off the parts you don't want to someone who does like them/need replacements for them.

but seriously, I think this kit is for those who love to fly and need to do it on the cheap. some of the clone stuff can be pretty good, for the money, from what i've heard...

I've ordered several times from Hobby City and my average wait is 10 days from when I place my order.
If you want something faster, order somewhere else.
Maybe you are more familiar with their website than I am but I didn't notice their small print. I have not said I want to change my shipping preference - I just a) didn't realise that that was their policy and b) I'll just wait!

I bought mine for $430 at Flying-Hobby.com . Even saw some ESPs going cheaper, I thought it was for 405 USD. There was at topic about it on HF very recently. If you can buy the ESP super combo for that kind of money and you arent going the budget way with the electronics the HK500 won't be that cheap after all.

I have been flying a E-sky Belt CP and ordered one of these 500 kits a couple of days ago. The only thing that concerns me is the ESC. I ordered the Hextronic 80A Besc and I am wondering if I will need an external BEC for this bird since I probably will use 5 or 6 cells.

As far as waiting for it to be shipped. I am in no hurry.

If you go with the turnigy plush 80Amp for $49 it has an internal switching BEC.

I've used two of the Plush series in my HK-450s and love them. I would assume the higher amperage ones would be just as good.

Got mine today, wanted it for spares mainly, so not disappointed, had a quick look through the kit, my first thoughts are good:

The main frame is aluminium which I like, so are the tail fins.
The main grips are plastic which is just plain scary and the rest of the head is plastic.
Worringly the main shaft is aluminium.
The blades are white fibreglass, just like the ebay specials I run anyway so thats good.
Landing gear is 1 piece moulded, like the 450 pro

Do any of the 500 class electrics come with plastic grips and/or aluminum shafts or is this something that's really untried?

TBH i don't know, I wouldn't use the plastic main grips but I am running a 500L on 16T pinion on 5s packs and the headspeed is quite high.

Would probably be OK for lower headspeeds but I am not going to test it.
