Default Belt CP DTS Mod Question

Hey Freaks,

I'm finally ready to mod my Belt CP v1 to a DTS setup. Although my bird is flying right now better than it's ever flown, I need to pull some part for my new t-rex 500 esp. YEA... Just a littlle excited. A while back I saw some pics of someone here in helifreak who did this mod w/o using the Titan Servo Trays. It was done directly on the belt cp carbon fiber upgrade frame and I thought it looked pretty neat. Does anyone know how to do this mod or where I can find that thread?

Thanks

hi Byter,
I just did the DTS mods, but used the servo tray option - as I did not find the other option till I had already ordered the servo trays.
This ref http://www.heliguy.com/Forum/about-t...od-t51151.html
has links to everything to do with DTS for Belt.
goos Luck.

btw: I have done the mod but with ESKY electronics, I have too much POs pitch. I have shortened the DTs links as much as can, but still too much +ve. At Zero throttle it is still 5' pitch. I was about to replace with DX7 and AR7000 electronics, so I presume I can adjust this via the TX programming ?? Or should I get it closer mechanically first ??
(Yo do this I will have to try and find much shorter Swash/servo links !!)

There is a lot of information in the Sticky at the top of this very forum. No need to turn to the dark side, lol.

See here: https://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=68408

Cheers

I did the DTS mod to my CF V1 belt CP, and I found that cutting holes into the frame so the servo's can be mounted inside the frame, is not a good thing. Let me show you what will happen....

Cutting the holes for all 3 servo's reduces the strength of the frame, and it makes replacing a dead servo much harder. Y also need to dis-assemble half the upper frame to get an old servo out and drop a new one in. Very annoying after a few times, I can tell you!!

My best advice is, if you are going to do the DTS mod on a CF belt cp v1, use the servo tray's for the AIL/PIT servo's. And, if there is no slop in the links from the ELEV servo to swashplate, then there is no need to change that either.

The servo trays don't look as pretty, but they do not reduce the strength of the frame which I would say is more important than looks.

When I ripped my frame apart, I just bought a G10 frame like this that already has the DTS mod cut into the upper frame. And the G10 material is much stronger than the stock frame, and the guy who makes them sells them cheaper than the stock frame sides Depends on your budget, and how long you plan to keep it for.

Aah! Yes! Those are the pics I'd seen before. That belt cp w/the dts mod does look great. But thanks a lot for giving me the heads up Copterboy. It didn't occur to me that cutting holes into the cf frame would compromise it that much. The G10 frames also look great. I'll check into the price to see if it's within my budget as all of my heli funds have gone into my t-rex 500 esp. If the G10 frames don't pan out, I'll probably just go w/the Titan Trays.

Thanks again guys

PS: If you'd like, I'll post some of the t-rex 500 esp build photos here. If it's OK.

Some 500 ESP pics would be nice, I'm saving for the same kit at the moment. Will be nice to drool over while I save up for mine

OK. I'll give me best shot to get some t-rex 500 esp pics posted over the weekend. My schedule recently has been a bit out of control so bare w/me please.

Should I start a new thread or just post them right here?
