Have you ever checked out 1/4 scale helicopters? Now these are HUGE, some are almost 6 ft. long. Scroll down to the scale model forums and check out Rotor George's Bell,......unbelievable.

That is a 10mm main shaft "600" head. Is yours a 12mm 700 head?

Tom
The manufacturer offered to re-machine it to12mm for the build, but the design has been tried already with the blade set I want to use with no issues so I'll keep it as is.

The frame set I'm using @ present will only allow a 10mm shaft.
The prototype frames that would allow a 12mm main shaft have not been completed as of the present.

When they are...
If I decide to breach a 1000, build then I will have another made up with a 12mm shaft and 22mm grips.

We'd like to see a little bigger jump. What's wrong with 1500 or so?

Nothing really except transportation

Not sure if the 900 build is going to fit inside my SUV

Seriously considering of a roof carrier at this point, could manage 4 big birds up there without a problem.

Head is fitted and 0 out...

Might try it as a 800 setup before pulling the boom and torque tube..

Starting the construct of the 900E...

As usual I will most likely be burned at the stake by the "purists" but here's a bit of news..

As you can see the stock 700 boom and the custom 900+ carbon fiber boom.

Now being 900+mm booms are not readily available that are usable for an ALIGN or similar design.

And considering the cost of having custom length carbon fiber booms, which is quite expensive for single digit production runs.

Just to try to ease the costs involved in this or similar project, I went looking for an alternative source to this problem..

And I happen to come across this...

Diameter is almost a perfect match to the ALIGN boom just slightly larger but the tail casing fits fine and it does fit into the boom block.

A minor issue.... the TT bearing holders are slightly loose with in.
Easily fixed by adding a short length if silicone bead material around the rubber bearing holder.

Now here is where I will be dipped in hot oil and set to flames by some....

The simple readily available source for this very inexpensive boom stock comes from no other than...

That's right a simple broom handle will do the trick..

Break out the wieners and marshmellows

To tell you the truth both have the same amount of flex so as far as being able to handle the tail, I see no concern.
