using align 105mm for all flights today.

Bought some Torsion 106mm not realising they are much heavier than the aligns
I'll get some edge blades soon, but for now these is no vibe with the aligns so I'm not going to rush, will strip the tail after another couple of flights and check the washers I put in.

Just an fyi Align will be going with a 1mm thick washer reason for this is to keep the shoulder part of the bolt in the tail hub if not you are relying on the head of the bolt to keep things lined up and allot of load on the threads so please don't get ahead of what we are testing to make sure there are no failures, i know this has fixed things for some of you

Default Thanks for the Intel :)

I have had a blast with the T-Rex 700E DFC however, I too have had serious tail moaning, humming during heavy loads. I dissected my tail to find serious washer cupping, and a lot of play between the tail hub and grips. I found some pretty thick washers in my spare heli parts stash, installed them, and no more humming/buzzing from tail. I have attached a pic of the washers I used. Yeah there pretty thick but problem is solved.

Thanks,

So, is HN7042 the current replacement part (for the shaft that tends to snap)? I just purchased a used 700V3 DFC and I want to make sure and go through with new parts and the washer check!

the currant shaft is snapping at the tail hub due to what seems the washers cupping which can cause one of the grips to come out of track and cause the hum which then will snap the tail shaft off. so replace the washers with a thicker one and keep any eye on it. Align has a total tail solution coming and testing is on going cant release it just yet they want to fly it more at high head speeds 2400

This is a great source for thicker washers. If you have experiences ANY buzzing I would replace you tail shaft just the same. If it has been fatigued any its just not worth the chance moving forward. http://www.mcmaster.com/#standard-flat-washers/=kbixf6

Yes, that was my exact thought - replace the tail shaft and add better washers - so is there a specific tail shaft for the V3 or is the 700E shaft the correct one?

I have still not purchase my 700 DFC yet as I'm still waiting to see how this tail issue plays out and if align will issue upgrade tail parts in their new kits.

But I so badly want this heli!! Thinking about just taking the risk and getting one and leaving the tail off until Align come out with the official "Fix" although your solution with the thicker washers sound like a winner!!

Lee rest assured this will remedy the problem and put the ALIGN 700E DFC back at the top ranks of quality kits. I honestly can't say one other thing on the kit needs improvement. Once that kit arrives and you build it you will be so thrilled and proud. Then you just have to figure out how you want to layout your components which will challenge your creativity somewhat. It's almost Christmas baby don't wait !!!

Ok guys at the field testing the new washers no good back up heli tail huming still have to try lighter tails main heli huming also not as bad as the back up both have the washers changed out and new align tail blades so its not the real fix and you still may have a small vid best way to see this is hover it at your high head speed and look at the bottom of the tail fin to see if its shaking i believe that once we release the total solution it will be the fix for all the tail hums

Please fly with caution Dino

Dino did this tail ever hum? Have you replaced the tail shaft with a new one? I would then do your test again.

One thing a lot are not thinking about...yes stock washer sucks...yes almost all tail failures have cupped washers buuuuuuuuuuuuuut these are probably damaged due to another issue. Putting thicker washers may fix the cupped issue buuuuuuuuuuuuut the vibs may still be there and still cause shaft failure. Whats damaging the washers may be the vibes so yes the thicker washers is one part of the fix but i think there's still more issues as Dino said with the tail. I would still be careful before you fly with new thicker washers.
