hey guys,
only now i heard about chaos. i'd like some info from the guys who actually own it. i have a few questions, please. hopefully i won't be a pain in the ass. how good is the quality of this kit, please? how thick is the cf main frame and how strong are the shafts in general? can i use some align trex 600 esp parts on it? which parts, if there are any, should be replaced by align's? is the current chaos 600 frame a perfect fit for align 600 esp?
thanks for any comments.

I picked up a Chaos 600E a couple of years ago.

The quality was very good, to the point where I used Chaos 600 parts to upgrade some parts of my Trex 600E (metal tail gearbox assembly for belt).

The machine is still in good shape and was last flown a few months ago.

The Chaos 600/700 quality is excellent.
Mine (600) needed no parts upgrades.
Problem getting a new one though, they've been out of stock for probably over a year.
Used Chaos helis come up for sale occasionally but not to often.
The frame is wider than the Trex 600 so larger motors can be installed.
I believe they're the same width as the 600 nitro.
Great bird. Mines going in a fuselage soon.

Going "SCALE".

Default Post your Chaos 600 pics and videos here

The reason they have been out of stock for such a long time is that they are switching helicopter suppliers, and they have to do stuff to them before they can sell them.

I've had my Chaos 600SE for over a year now with over 400 flights on it. It is my first big heli and the one I learned to fly on. Parts quality has never been a problem. I'm still running the PhoenixTech 1100kv motor on 6S with great reliability. I put the KDE Direct frame upgrade on it which replaces the bottom plate, battery tray and radio trays with aluminum ones. I also installed the trail rotor control upgrade from KDE Direct also. I didn't need to do these upgrades because of quality issues. I just like that part of the hobby. RC Aerodyne is a great company to work with. One thing I noticed was they don't stock the ESP frame side replacement parts. They have 600E only replacements.

The new supplier is Gartt RC as I understand it. That's the same company that makes the HK550 and the Assualt 700 for Hobbyking as well as the FBL HK500 kit (but not the old HK500 kits, just the latest one) as well as the HK450 Pro V2 (again, only the latest one not the older ones).

The older HK kits are made by Skya, you can tell which are which by the color of the aluminum parts. Skya kits have grey parts and Gartt kits have black and silver parts.

Thinking of selling both my Chaos 600 and 450 - I find that I enjoy flying my planes much more than I do the helicopters and I seem to only fly them when I am at home and don't want to drive to the field. Went flying yesterday - didn't even pack up a copter.

So what do you think I could get for them
600 - currently running 6S
CC Ice 100 ESC
CC 20a Pro BEC
kit servo's
Nano Gyro
Align main gear and autorotation gear and one way bearing
Align skids (changed color to stand out better)
Align rear servo mount (elevator)
Align tail rotor blades (nicked the carbon ones when learning to hover)
Now comes the most written phrase - Never crashed and this is the truth (see note about tail rotor blades) I did all my crashing with an Erazor 450 and my Chaos 450. Flies great oh and it has the skull canopy

450
Currently has the kit ESC but also have the YEP 45a speed controller for it
Hitec servos on both tail and head
Spartan Gyro
Align torque tube gears
Align tail boom
Align skids
Align main shaft
Stock canopy with a small crack/chip in the black "window" section
Quick UK canopy mounts
All the align aluminum updates (battery tray, front canopy mount, gyro tray, tail servo mount)
She has been crashed a couple of times but has been put back together correctly and is currently flying great

That's actually exactly what I said on a different forum

It is Gartt RC. Before releasing the kits, they are making Gartt make some changes to the kits to make them stand to the Chaos name.

Hopefully with the new supplier parts for our "old" versions will still be available. I ordered two of the tail boom cases for my 600E last week. Jennifer, from RCA, called me back saying they were out of stock. She checked again and came up with two and put them in the mail to me. Thanks again Jennifer!

Some parts that aren't made for the Chaos frame spacing would be hard to replace with a suitable substitute.

Love my 600 and hope to get her back flying after putting her in the dirt last week.

Default A new pic for an old thread

A shame to see some of these threads just die, all the new gee-whiz helis stealing the thunder, while many of these older birds just fly wonderfully, and reliably.

Not all of us aspire to pilot a housefly! (Although I would like to have the ability to do so if I wished) and admire those that can.

Here's a pic or two of my new to me Chaos 600 (Girfriend named her the Pterodactyl)

Thanks for the compliment!

Currently she is wearing a $14.95 clearance T600n canopy which actually stands out pretty well, although I am going to add a splash of orange.

Loving the ol girl so far...new batts are arriving, more flight time!

Default A little funtional "bling" on the cheap...

Picked up a Lynx batt tray for next to nothing on ebay.
Took only a few cents worth of nylon spacers from Lowes to have it fitting perfectly.
Looks cool (to me) and is much more solidly mounted than the OEM.
