oh man, 75 bucks for an 80 amp HV controller!

I'll sell off my CC 80 HV Edge for one of those in a heart beat! Very weird its multi rotor only, how about using it with a external gov?

I got a response from HW...

Thanks for your interest in our products.

Actually the Platinum 80A HV V3 Pro has two types of firmware, one is for multi-rotors and the other is for helicopters. But the one shown in your hyperlink is for multi-rotors, not helicopters. So it will not perfect for your helicopter. We may release the Platinum 160A & 80A HV V3 ESCs this year, but I don't know the exact date.

I meant to say. Not many. I don't run castle on anything large. The fires scare me.

Pretty much your only other option is a Jeti Mezon but it has a price similar to Kontronik. The only real difference is the Mezon plays nicely with external govs.

Do you know of any fire issues with the Talon or Edge ESC's ?

Castle had issues with the early HV Ice ESC's for sure, but they recalled and since then they are ok as far as i know.

I think the Scorpion HV ESC's also have a BEC built in... no?

I have heard of fires on the newer Castles, however, I have also heard of fires on Kontronics, YGE's, Scorpions, Jeti's, YEP's, Hobbywings, etc. etc.

It is very interesting how the s..t has stuck to Castle with regards to the fires. I have seen many problems with Kontronik products and myself have suffered many times with problems. I don't see the s..t sticking to them for some reason, so far anyway.

I am moving away from K products and am waiting eagerly to try this out to replace my kosmiks.

My castle HV esc is still bulletproof from the start.. even the ICE2 i exchanged it for and i am not easy on it with a rewounded motor pulling 5-6 kW.

Still i am very interested in this new HW 160..

I think people who pay $800 for a single ESC don't want to admit they made a stupid mistake so they rationalize why it wasn't the ESC's fault that caused it to burn up...

Thats right all brands have had fires. You cannot prevent that due to the design and size of circuitry
