Building The Fury 55
Well, mine came in yesterday. What a beautiful machine. I was able to spend a few hours doing the initial build. This kit screams MA quality. The photos don't do it justice (and the iPhone camera 'aint the best). I can see this build going very quickly. It was worth the wait!

I've gotten a little bit more done. The fan was a good bit out of balance, so that took a bit of time to correct. No big deal though. The hub was perfect, just the fan threw it off a tad. All in all, this machine is really a pleasure to build.

Looks great Joey. Your a talented builder dude. The Vibe you built is as "sound as a pound" I'm anxious to fly with ya soon. I wana see the Fury in person too.

You beat me to it! Looks great though. I have mine preordered with my local guy and now I am getting anxious. Love the towel. Can sleep at night now knowing mine won't have to sit on my Align towle when I work on it at the field.

Thanks, Stephen. I don't know about the builder...that Vibe was just a fun/easy build. It was the machine! I hope it's still treating you well....
Hey Alex! Yes, that towel is chock full of Awesome. I was quite surprised to see it when I opened the box. A really nice touch. You're gonna love this kit. I was able to get a little bit more done. Although, not as much as I had hoped. Maybe one day I'll speed things up a bit, but I'm enjoying taking my time for now.

Well, it's been very slow progress this past week. Had a bunch of stuff gong on and not much building getting done. One thing, though, I've had a heck of a time with the head. The snap rings keep popping out of their grooves...so that makes completing the head assembly quite difficult. I've broken a snap ring, and that's kinda put a halt on further progress until I can get to the hardware store.
Still having a blast building this thing. In all seriousness, one could easily build this thing in 2 days (around 10-12 hours).

Alright, I was able to get some time last night to get the head squared away, so that allowed me to pretty much complete the build (minus the canopy mounting..I'll do that last). The servos are installed, so with luck, she'll be completed by the weekend. Here's a few more ultra-low-quality pics...

I'm looking forward to a little review on this heli from a non-biased source. good luck with the test flight.

Not sure how biased I'll be...all 3 of my helis are MinAir
But, I'll do my best. Thanks for the well wishes.

By a little review I mean something like, it flys like a MA Heli or it flys like an min air Heli with lemon juice on the top or god forbid it flys like a trex 600

Will do, Joe. Although, I can promise you I won't say that it flies like a T-rex. How can I do that already, you may be asking yourself. Simple, It's a MinAir, and I've never flown a t-rex (seriously!) , so I'd honestly have no idea.
In this case, I'd say the old adage is true, "ignorance is bliss".

I did get the electronics installed over the weekend. So, that's a little bit of progress there. It's a bit messy, but I'll clean it up some over the week. I'll hopefully be able to put the maiden flight on it this weekend, weather permitting.

Flight Report
I'm sure y'all have read Fr8brkr's flight reports. There's not much more that I can report. It's true...in my opinion, it's the best 50 out there.
About the only "top-notch" 50 I can compare it to is the Vibe. I've built/flown the Vibe 50, which is an excellent machine. I'd say it probably held the top spot since its release. The Vibe build was awesome, and flight performance was really superb. I can say without reservation, however, that the Fury 55 surpassed the Vibe in both areas. After thinking about it some, and talking it over with friends, I really believe that you could build the Fury in 8 hours. Seriously. Probably less if you had all the stuff laid out and weren't taking too many beer breaks (my main fault ). Flying the Fury 55 is a dream. Like Fr8brkr said, you just don't want to stop flying it; It's that good. I was really surprised by the agility of the machine, even in normal mode where I did the shake-down hovers. I'm running LOW dual-rates (as in somewhere around 60%) and a good bit of expo (around 40%) in normal mode. Forward flight is where it reminds me of a Vibe a lot. It tracks really well. Scratch that, it tracks great. It also seems, to me anyway, that it shares some vertical performance with my Stratus. It'll rocket straight up, leaving nothing but smoke trail and a helluva big smile on the pilot's face. I've still got some tweaking to do..namely with the dual rates and expo settings for the various flight modes. It's really hard to take the time to fine-tune it to your liking, when you have so much damned fun just flying as it is. The bottom line, for me, is that I'm ecstatic about this machine. It's been well worth the wait. I've got a lot more flying to do with this model, but so far I couldn't have asked for anything better. Either during the build or the flight characteristics. Thanks MinAir! Job well done! -Joey

Thanks for the review head node, it sounds fantastic.
I really won't one of these but due to a change in circumstances, i'm thinking a 500 size electric so i can fly at other locations besides my local club. I will get one, just don't know when. Joe
