Hi. Was wondering what are my motor choices for an xxtreme 700?

There isn't much you couldn't run. Plenty of physical space, and it can handle the weight so .. sky's the limit.

Scorpion 4525-520Kv Ultimate is the combo motor. It's a good option, very efficient in this model.

I really like the KDE 700XF-505 G3 motor in it. Generates more power, but also quite a bit heavier. You need a monster ESC for that setup on 12S, IMO.

Lots of guys running Pyro 750-850 in it. Definitely can't go wrong with Kontronik - but do pair it with a Kontronik ESC.

I bumped up my stock power system to a scorpion 4530-450 on 14s 4400 packs.

Need to change out shaft (or order it with ) the long 8mm shaft for the 700XX

Runs cooler and has plenty more power for my less than stellar collective management

Side note , the scorpion works well with the stock YGE , not sure on the pyro motors on the 700 esc. I know the 800 esc is rpm limited and won't spin a pyro fast enough.

Like I said , not sure on the stock 700 esc if it's rpm limited , killed mine and I'm running the 800 esc in my 700 now. My understanding is that it's the same esc with the heatsink.

Default motor

I was eyeing a xnova motor. Not many choices with a 8mm shaft.... I hate to ask but is there anyone using a yep 180a hv esc?

True , the 8mm long shaft isn't common.

I have my stock 12s motor from my 700 here and a 17T pinion I'd sell.

pm me if interested.

No direct experience with YEP , I hear there a clone and are popular so they can't be that bad.

I did see a 160 YGE in the classifieds for about $300.

How about a castle 160 hv with stock motor or xnova 525 kv xxtreme 700 with 710mm blades?

Not sure on the castle , personally at this price point for a heli I don't use castle stuff.

Stock motor is 520kv so the Xnova is in the ballpark.

Any blade up to 753 good for the L700 in stock format.

I am thinking about using the 505 KDE with the 160 YGE that can handle up to 16s. Im going to run two Pulse 7s 5000mah 65c batteries. What pinion should I use? Is this an ok idea?
Thanks
Mikee.

Mine has KDE 505Kv G3, 2x4400mAh 7S packs, and Kosmim 200A. I ended up using 17T pinion with head speed 1850, 1980, 2100. It flies really well with abundant power. It is already a tiny bit nose heavy. With 2x 5000mAh 65C 7S packs, it can be a bit nose heavy.

Edit: Use the Mr. Mel head speed calculator http://heli.dacsa.net/calcv3/Default.aspx. It is a nice tool to figure out the gearing.
