:?: Has anyone tried the helimax cf/gf 305mm blades? I'm trying to finde a affordable cf blade that tracks good. On another note I saw blue alumi tail booms on helidirect for 8 bucks a pair this looks to be interesting but I think you will need the upgraded belt. I think its 400t. Has any one tried them?

Default I tried the HeliMax carbons

I was whining at my local hobby store about the cost of Sab blades. Dennis suggested I try the new HeliMax carbons. They are about $20US cheaper than the Sabs. That is about 2/3 the cost of Sabs.

I flew them for a very short time. See they had the unfortunate ability to find a tree to fly into.

I don't remember having tracking problems with them but, my heli tracks very well anyway. When I did fly them, I was not happy with the way they felt. However, you should note there is nothing I've found that fly as well as Sab blades in the ~300mm size range.

I don't want to discourage others from trying the HeliMax carbons. Feel is a very subjective thing. The HeliMax blades might feel fine to you. And, if you are still breaking blades on a regular basis, that $20 a pop savings adds up.

I would look at it this way. Buy them and try them. If you don't like them, you always need spare blades around anyway. Just put them in the spares pile.

Well My weekend was kinda a bust, I got my little beater twin motor out and flew a bit. the 4 in 1 unit faild in mid flight. Was in a banked turn at the time, had no responce what so ever. Was kinda funny as the bat got ejected . Planed on get the 400 out but the weather changed and was gusty and drizzling, not good fo an electric heli.
Any get some good flights in this weekend?

Pretty nice weather here so I flew 4 or 5 flights on saturday and sunday. There is usually always some time during the day that it is calm enough to fly. Lunch time or evening just before dark. I can't get myself out of bed early enough to do the early morning thing though.

Too hot out in the East to fly! I finally bought a field battery and have relieved the car battery of it's duty. Seems like an easier way to go. I recently upgraded the rotor head to mostly all alloy parts and I'm using CommonSense RC 2100 15c bats (2) and three 2000mah no name 10c bats.

Ya heat dose kill flight time and brain power.we had a small heat wave here a week or so ago, 100 to 109 temps. my feald bat is the bat from my old gold wing that cracked the block. works good but is heavier.

Bad News Report:
On Thursday, I was flying low and took my eye off the bird for a second and I had a tail boom strike. I can't believe the damage: Mainshaft and gear, blades (of course), tail boom, tail shaft, tail grip, horizontal wing, rudder pushrod, feather shaft. Man alive, was I mad. I have rabbits in the yard and like to chase them around with the heli. One caught my eye in the bushes and thats all it took, bam. I think no more flying in the front yard for me. Well, the positive end is full alloy upgrades on the tail and a set of alloy mixing arms for the head.

Thats sweet. I got fight in today and need to ad flybar wieghts to get stable in the wind. Was good but chiped my tail blades . It still flew good but I will need to replace them. Also tweaking my radio abit for the 315's i got on it. gona bump my norm t curve for better hs at lift off. It was a bit pitchy in the wind (about 8 to 10 mph) and I added some expo to soften for the lighter cf paddles, (too light) was a bit of pucker factor. The cf blades cut nice and sound mean. But with the $ invested in them my palms got sweaty during trim out on the head.
This was my first full flight on the hybrid head due to almost 2 weeks of high wind after work, and too much to do on the weekends. Only a few small test hops befor. Had flights on the cx in my wind free zone but thats too small for the 400.
Has anyone else had to up hs for cf blades?

Yes, I remember that feeling and get it everytime I try a new move on the heli. I have to remind myself to breath!

The cyclic is alot more touchy with the setup I got on it. I altered my t curve but cant test till later. I now have 0 58 100, I hope that will get better hs at lift off. Once at hover its good but at lift off the bird is pitchy and likes to baloon alot. If the change in t curve dont do it then I will go to a 13t pinion. I want to find a 12 but that mey be hard. 11t is almost there and 13 is too much.

On Friday, I installed alloy tail grips and tail slider. The slider ball needed a good amount of sanding to move freely. It seems to work well. I've hover around a bit but don't notice a tail response improvement as of yet. I'll have to get some good runs in to see if there is a difference in performance. It does look good! I also put in upper mixing arms in alloy. The head is almost all alloy. The main grips shall be next...
The Helimax head crash kit included rotors with "cutouts" they are much lighter and the heli appear more responsive as opposed to the "solid" type blades....

They snap easy. But yes they are light. I think they are great for beginers as they take the force of impact saving other parts. Its too bad they arn't cheaper. I like the lift of my 305's and 315's. V-blades are making a 325 now for $55 with the new white flash. Thats not bad at all for high quality cf blades. We all need to poke them to make a 305 for the 400. I have ben bugging microheli about true ark upgrades.

Anyone try a hyperion motor? I like the idea of the torq from a true outrunner.

I keep seeing the terms pop up but have not found out what they mean precisely. What the heck is the difference between an outrunner and an inrunner?
