Default Over node Amps with PL8

Guys,

I am getting this error whenever charging rate is reaching 20 Amps and increasing. How I make it work?

What packs are you charging, what wiring mode is the charger in (JST-XH or FMA)? Do you have picture of your setup?

It is working fine now!!!

I noticed the banana plug is a bit out (couple of mm) pushed it all the way in worked!!

Possible that the charger can detect this?

Yes. The charger checks the voltage and current on balance connector as well as the main leads. If there is a difference, or the something is not right, it will alert with a safety code.

Also, you may want to double-check your wiring mode. If you are using a parallel board, the MPA or the SPA, it needs to be in JST wiring mode. The original boards that do not support parallel charging use the FMA wiring mode.

Are you using the Revolectrix shielded banana plugs for connecting the main leads to the charger?

No I am not. I am using the regular banana plug for parallel cable.

if you are saying this is the problem why many times it is working at full charge rate???

Common 4mm bananas are not reliable above 25 amps. The springs weaken over time and cause contact issues. I had the same cable as the one in the picture. It worked well for the first year or so. But I started noticing excessive heating at the connector. I replaced the bananas with the longer version of 4mm bananas available from Cheaperbattery packs and HobbyKing.

The Revolectrix 4mm connectors are the longer style for better contact.

I would highly recommend using the Revolectrix banana plugs. In addition to the reasons Greg mentioned, they are shielded and fused.

Considering the history, I would get yourself a IR thermometer. Check the temperatures at the connectors during charging. A bad or intermittent connection will cause heating at the connection point.

Revolectrix has had Powerlabs sent in for service with the plastic housing around the female connector melted from using short 4mm connectors that are not making good contact.

The individually fused main/balance leads on the MPA are a great safety feature as well. Keep us posted.

Cleaning the connectors might have helped. Anyway, I've found that the balance connectors as well as the banana connectors and pins periodically need attention.
