Default TREX700 3G TAIL SETUP

How are we all setting up the tail on the 700 and 500 are we setting up the same as in the manual with the tail at centre slider? both my 700 and 500 was both flying real well before i updated my 3g from v1 to v2.1.after the update both my helis had real bad tail drift to the right so i tried setting up the tail up in rate mode with no drift to no avail. by looking at the 3g software the tail gain slider is set to 70% and not 100%.before the update the gain on my DX7 was 44% and the tail was locked in real well so when the update the 3g the default gain value must change from the default of 100% to 70% in the software. i had a email from Leon Luck from Align test pilot and his gain on his DX7 is 73 in stunt mode and i think 80 in normal mode. so you either have to raise the gain on the radio or move the gain slider in the 3g software up to 100%
I did not find anything in the 3g update instructions so look this in mind.
Test flight to follow tonight, I will put my update on Helifreak later when I get home.

Can we all please put all are setting on this thread to help others

thank you Darren

Most guys who have had probs with the tail have reduced the "Rudder lock gain adjustment".

On my 500 I have my gain in the radio set to 68% (DX7), i left the "Rudder total gain adjustment" at 70 and the Rudder lock gain isset to 60.

Give it a go, can't hurt (hopefully)

Can you explain this more clearly?
Did Leon instruct you to increase the total gain to 100% ??

The tail on my 700 isn't drifting, & it's holding well in fast backwards flight, but if I do a full cyclic right roll from a stationary hover the tail blows out 90*
I have the same gain settings as I had in V1 - gain of 72 in GYRO SENS menu.
Tried increasing radio gain a little but it didn't make a difference.

Leon, can you comment please?
Should I increase Total Gain in 3G to 100%??

If I do this, changing the gain in my Tx throughout the range allows 3G gain slider to move to min & max limits, with the 3G Total gain at the default 70, I can get to the minimum limit but only up to 87 instead of 100 max.

What have you done Leon?

So Darren are you saying that we should change the total rudder gain to 100% ?

I'm confused.

before we had the usb dongle my gain setting was 44% out of 100. but now when the update to v2.1 you default total gain has changed to 70 default from 100%,so i either need to move the total gain slider up to 100% or lower my gain from 44% to a lower value because 44% off 70% is more than 44% out of 100%

Hi Guys,

I have not changed the tail settings inside the 3G software at all, nor did I change anything in the radio with respect to the tail either from version1 to 2.1, the only thing I changed was to go to the trex600 tail blade to completely smoothen the tail, I started doing this with the version 1.

Thanks Leon,
That's the answer I was after.

Can you please tell me what your cyclic gain dials are set at, & also the rudder gain value according to the 3G setting display (last tab in the 3G software).

Just want to compare.

The update from v1 to v2.1 makes the gyro about 30% more sensitive so you need to allow for this, just because your gyro mount was working before the update doesn't mean it will be any good after the update. ive got 1 layer of 3m 4010 mount tape with spartan metal plate but now with 2 layers of 3m 4010 mount tape strapped down hard with align velcro .i made some adjustments in the 3g software and all i can say is wow i love this 3g it awesome, hands off it hovers with no adjustments to the controls,i dont get the tail kick anymore just a couple of small changes in the software and im all done very happy now with my 700.

Thanks to (KEN) my wingman for coming down the field we have both had, i think the best day flying so far this year and i hope we got lots more to come
