Servo sounds different - only paranoia?
I've got three new Align DS615 servos. I tested them on an old Esky servo tester and they all sounded rough (chattery as they moved) although one was more rough/gritty sounding than the others. I think the tester is rather old and I remember other good servos sound funny on it. That servo was also difficult to move by manually moving the arm. So I hooked them up to receiver and gave them stick inputs. All three moved smoothly both with no load and also when I resisted them by hand. The sound was similar on all three although again the suspect one was a bit different perhaps. After that I tried gently moving them by hand again and two were easy and smooth to turn but the other one seemed locked and only sometimes moved (I didn't want to try too hard).
Am I being paranoid in suspecting a bad servo? If they all move smoothly under stick command is it OK? The were imported and are not available here in NZ yet so it will be a pain to try to get a warranty replacement.

I had another play with the servo tester. It works fine with smooth responses on smaller servos but I suspect the DS615's draw more current than the circuit can supply hence the stuttery response. There IS a difference in the sound with one out of the three servos (driven from a good BEC, via Tx / Rx). Searching other threads I see it is not unprecedented for individual servos to sound different - doesn't mean there's no problem with them though.

its possible the gears inside aren't uniformly greased that's why one sounds different. maybe you can check and let us know how it goes

the gears looked well greased in the "odd" one. Various other comments suggest is is common to have variations in sound. So I will install them and check for any physical differences or changes over time.
