Which 700 - T Rex Dominator or Logo 690??
Hi guys,
I am shortly going to be venturing into 700 (electric) territory having so far flown a T Rex 550 and Logo 500. Just wondered if any of you would recommend anything in particular. I want something that I can be proud to own and looks good. I like to fly fast although I'm not advanced enough for 3D yet. I do sport aerobatics mainly. I love the Mikado helis and am thinking of the 690SX but the TRex 700L Dominator is also on the short-list. JR Forza looks exciting too. I know I will get biased opinions but that's part of the fun!

If you can wait, Mikado is releasing Logo 700 soon. On paper, it is better than the 690.
Since you own Logo and Trex, you know they have different design and fly differently. Each has it's pros and cons. Trex 700 is a good machine but I like Logo more. For me, I feel more connected with the Logos and each move takes less effort. Parts count is low on Logo and the maintenance effort is low. With this said, there's nothing wrong with Trex 700 and you can have a lot of fun with after market upgrades.

TaoY, do you have any info on the new Logo 700? I looked round the internet and cant find anything about an imminent new release. Is this a completely new design, as there is already a Logo 700?
Cheers

I've flown both. And I greatly prefer the Trex. As its a hard hitting high headspeed full competition level 700. The 690sx runs at 2000 rpm, feels way too floaty and soft. It flys great, but not my cup of tea at all. Also the cyclic range is a little limiting. And the tail authority is not that great. Good, but not excellent tail authority. |

I have both and they complement each other, which is why I have both The TRex definitely barks louder, it can take the powerhouse motors and when you push it I makes you just smile, but it need to be pushed in my opinion, that's where it shines. The head is stiff and it's somewhat heavy (in a good way though).
Now the 690SX. It's like a smooth ride compared to the TRex. It can be flown from like 1300 headspeed all the way up to 2000, and the light weight makes it move. It also makes it floaty, it's not nearly as aggressive as the TRex, it doesn't sound like a true 700 when you push it. On a windy day the TRex is definitely the one to run. But the fact is that if you're not into super hard moves, and you like a machine with a lot of variety or you just are in the mood for some more relaxing flying the 690SX is a very nice machine. And it can be pushed, just not as much as the TRex or any other power 700.

690SX has so much cyclic delay due to the plastic blade grip. It's not stiff enough for 690mm blades.
The T-Rex 700 can fly with low head speed and 4000 pack too. giving the smooth feeling close to Logo. |

I'd vote for the trex700L due to its versatility and durability. Although this is the only match up I'd chose a trex over a mikado.

If money matters, make 2 shop carts with everything needed, wich in case of the 700L is just the 700L, and compare prices. Otherwise you can just pick the one you like more.
Personally I would take the 700L, much better heli and great electronics bundled, cheaper too for sure.

This year if I get a chance and the money I would like to build a Logo 700 either the new one coming out or the existing one ant that would complete my fleet! (until something else catches my eye )

Thanks guys, I'm now leaning towards the T Rex. I already have a spare BD3SX so will be using that especially as it's a unit I'm familiar with. The T Rex can also have a very nice speed fuselage added at a later date - I assume it fits the Dominator.
