Bad batch of main gears?
I read somewhere that there was a bad batch of main gears at one point. Is this true?
I've been suffering from binding main gears. I have 3 gears in my box and they all bind at some point in the rotation. I've replaced the motor, the frame even a main shaft. I don't understand what else there is left to do. |

There has always been a problem with the main gears being out of round. The problem is really obvious when dealing with brushless conversions. I use to buy five at a time, find the bad ones and return them to my LHS. Every once in while I would get lucky and have two or three good ones in a batch.

Any aftermarket alternative? I know Lynx makes one for 17 dollars. If it works it's worth it lol

I was never impressed with the Lynx gear. The mesh was always too tight when using it with a couple of my brushless conversions and the screw to fasten it to the main shaft always cracked the shaft. I think I either gave away or threw away the Lynx main gear I had.

Bad batch of main gears?
I inspected mine closely last night and 2 out of 3 were visibly out f round. The other one was nearly perfect so I gave the ole rotate the motor in the frame a go even tho o always thought that was crap since I can't see the motor being out of round but to my surprise, IT WORKED! I kept clocking it 90 deg till no binding was present.
This would be hard to do on the brushless motor tho since the magnets fool you on smoothness |
