Yes those are BL grips, head and spindle, drop in replacement. I´ve converted both of my mcpxs a year ago and have not bent a feathering shaft in hundreds of crashes (over grass, but original mcpx one would bend no matter). On the plastic grips though I managed to snap off the little ball for the pitch link, but again they´re burlier than the original plastic grips.

I still quite like the BL converted mcpx. Weighs much less and depending on motor less HS too than the BL which is a good thing when crashing. But I think you´re right in refraining from setting one up with a bigger motor/batt . If I´d want a more powerful/heavier mcpx I´d go with the BL.

That being said mine are not going anywhere. I ditched the above 130 blades (servos simply too weak) and got back to the BL non bullet blades. Have them dialed in perfectly for my needs and even aquired some junk mcpxs for spare servos/boards. I think I must have well over 4000 flights on these now ...

Nice, thanks for the info. yeah My Bl converted is at 50 grams the stock BL is 60grams from what i read on the specs . lighter bounces better, but if i built a killer one i would try my very best not to hit the ground, guess have to treat it like my 450 sized.

Just finished up re-doing my V1 Mcpx 2BL I bought off the forums here from a member. I bought it because it was an NCcraig build with around 40 flights. Once I got it in my hands for close inspection, the solder work and everything was fantastic, but the head had developed a bit of slop in the swash and the plastic pitch links so I broke the heli down and installed new servos while I was at it. For the rebuild I decided I would try to do this heli some justice by having the most responsive head on it I could get. The answer was a DFC with carbon blades.

Build specs for those interested.

Microheli carbon frame with third main bearing
V1 board
HP06/HP03 - direct soldered
9T Pinion
BLHeli flashed ESC's - Governed running flat curves
3mm boom / MH tail fin
New 2.1g servos / New links and pushrods
Lynx OWB system and titanium mainshaft/collar
MH metal swashplate with Lynx red O-rings
Lynx DFC head with Ultra Dampeners and Titanium spindle
MH Carbon blades
RRC 65mm prop
Hyperion 550's with Microdeans
Lynx landing gear with MH delrin battery tray
X-Canopy Airbrush - modified to accommodate battery. (CG is spot on)

I finally (and I mean finally) got my mCP X HP05/Double Coreless out and converted it to a brushless tail. I designed and 3D printed a motor mount and tail fin to hold an HP03T motor on a 2mm solid rod and protect the Plantraco prop.

I'm very happy with the result. The parts for the motor mount and fin are on Thingiverse: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:364490

I got a chance to fly it today, and it's a beautiful thing. Did my first inverted hover today. I can't believe how easy it is to throw this thing around when the tail stays where you put it.

Default Lipos I have tried with my brushless mcpxs

I have tried 550mah Hyperion , 450mah Nanotech (1/2 of a 2S), 340mah Nanoteh (1/2 of a 2S), 325mah Hyperion [45,55, & 70C], 300mah Nanotech and others. Since they are all 1S or 3.7 volts the boards were fine.

Your HP05 will probably like the 550mah Hyperion. Try to find some of the 325mah Hyperion if you can. 300mah Nanotechs probably won't work for long.

I like the Hyperion 325mah 55C best. Most bang for the $ and gram. But, for shame, they are out of production. The 550mah Hyperions were good to start but faded quickly--on each flight and overall plus they are heavy..

Rats, I was hoping for some news of a new super good battery.

I might have to go back to splitting the Nanotech 450mah 2S lipos again. I gotta break out the aluminum soldering supplies...
