I'm using Windows 7 64 bit operating system on my laptop.

Tried using the driver that was posted here, and it came up as not being able to install because of a bad digitally signed certificate.

After going through a bunch of b.s. I was able to apply a digital signature to the driver and it installed.

So now I run the HeliBal program and the device is never detected. It was on USB COM port 3 and I then changed it to COM port 1.

Still no love. Anybody have any other ideas?

Thanks for the help guys,
Jay

Default KDS Flymentor needs power + the USB connection to work with the laptop.

Holy cow. I was searching some more, this time on YouTube. This one guy just happened to mention that the Flymentor needed to have power going to it. Bingo, that was all it took. I used a BEC and the battery from my CX2 to power it up. The red light started flashing on the Flymentor control box and the HeliBal software picked it up.

I am so use to a USB connection supplying power, plus I was following the manufacturer's instructions and they did not say it had to have it's own power source. They just said to plug the USB in.

Just from the many posts about this unit, I can tell it's going to be an uphill battle getting this working on my Blade 400. I'm sure I'll be talking to everyone again soon.

Thanks,
Jay

It will mostly work reliable on WinXP. If you have no access to that, get yourself the hand held programmer.

How were you able to apply a digital signature?

one thing you can only read data once when it opens, don't read it again when the yellow triangle appears, but writting works well, se sure to have a backup and alwasy load the backup, modify and write! there's still a bug reading from the flymentor, just close and read again when opening to get data on the FM! as soon as the yellow triangle appears.. dont read the FM!
you can still write data and changes and save to file!

Simple preparation can prepare a driver for 64bit Windows 7, Windows7 32 bit, Windows XP.
Prepared driver for Win7_64bit works fine for me.

Try and let me know
You bloody genius. Well done... works a treat.

Anyone having trouble loading unsigned drivers... press f8 as windows boots repeatedly. Takes you to advanced boot screen. Select the option that disables driver signing and bingo!

KDS need to pay wgspider some cash and get his driver on their documentation.

AVR-CDC is software implementation of USB protocol. It is not working normally
on many new Windows OS, especially on x64 (Unfortunatelly it was by original design, USB mode implemented was tricky and unofficially supported by OS). On the other hand HW realization of KDS USB adapter is not so good. On systems with not exact 5V on USB bus - it is working with many lags. I redesign HW part of KDS USB adapter to use chip with HW USB implementation instead of SW implementation. If it is interested for community I can give PCB design SW part and explanation.
