Is the 250 CFX ESC using EC3's?

I know that the 230s dual ESC is using JST's to connect to the battery, however, the 250 CFX must be using EC'3 because of the batteries they are recommending for it -- EFLB13503S30. Is that correct? EC3 always preferred to the JST, of course.

just wondering and what are some of the other non-frame changes between the 230s and 250 CFX. Can I put Zeal 255 mm CF blades on the 250 CFX or 245 CF mm the longest?

Yes the 250 CFX is using the EC3 connector. But if you look on the Horizon Hobby 250 CFX page for spare parts, it list the 230 S ESC, which has a JST connector. (Same part Number) I

The 255mm blades will fit with regard to clearance, but I have not looked into motor/ESC loading.

Other non-frame changes include the wider and taller 300 CFX landing gear. Also with the new frame is the 300 CFX bearing blocks with 3 shaft bearings instead of 2. The 250 CFX has bearings above and below the main gear. Servos geometry is 120 degree symmetry (like the 300 CFX) I think that is it. Did I miss anything?

yeah, i saw where the 250 cfx ESC is using the same picture as the 230s ESC with the battery JST connection. i dont yet have the actual 250cfx or 230s , so I can't tell if the ESC's are different between the 230 and 250. just going by Blade's 250cfx battery recommendation which has an EC3, I'd say that the 230 and 250 esc's are diffferent!!! maybe not just connector-wise either!? dunno?!

The 230 and 250CFX use the same ESC. The only reason they have different part numbers is because of the EC3 connectors.

Yea they have the wrong picture and part number on the Horizon site under the 250 parts listing. The correct part number is BLH4484.

So to be clear, go with the number in the manual and not the one one the Parts Page at Horizon (for now) correct?

Imagine since the 250 doesn't use a belt the 300cfx servo geometry won't be bad but it's an ignorant design on the 300.

Have to take a bunch of crap apart just to get at the bottom screw on the rear servo. Most retarded PITA servo layout I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with. 300cfx also has the shortest lived motor I've used on an RC anything since the late 80's but that's Blade for you. Notorious for recycling known crap electronics into their new releases.

Ditch that half assed crap with overpriced parts and never look back, you'll be glad you did. Quality kits are more expensive up front but the long term upkeep is a tiny fraction of the cost of maintaining a Blade heli that will drop out of the sky from failures every 20-200 flights

I agree these are not "real" helis. All I know of Blade is their 230s and I don't doubt the troubles you must have had with prior designs. But your experience is not being shared by owners of these models, so your (repeated) posts discouraging their use is not helpful. My crashes tend to cost <$10 (main gear, tail) and take 15 minutes to get back in the air- which gives me supreme confidence to fly with reckless abandon. If I could do that with my x3 or with an Oxy I might better understand your assertion. This is a kit for training and learning, and for that it is fantastic.

Correct, I actually asked James a while back if the 230s ESC could handle the 250CFX motor setup and he said yes.

I bought at Blade 250 CFX from Horizon Hobby. (3) ESCs have failed. The first two failed when I was spooling up. The last one was in level flight about 6' off the deck. Horizon has been good about providing replacements but this is old. Any suggestions regarding upgrade for ESC?

Two of mine in the 230s failed. Glad I was just hovering. A third they sent me was DOA. Now they are sending another. You would have thought they would improve on a better upgraded dual esc by now. Is HH the only manufacturer of dual esc's for these hobby grade type motor driven tail helicopters. I bet people are bashin and crashin the dual brushless china ones. But they will not fly like the Blade helis either. Dont get me wrong, I love my Blade helis, but the money is piling up on what I've spent. Had I been up there, this last failure would have wasted new speed fuselage, led lights, and new CF blades. I'm thinking of giving the MH auto rotation gear a shot, hell it might just save it from major damage.
