550 is, as others stated above, getting pretty similar in size to the 600.

550 is about the absolute limit, IMHO, for a 6S system (all of my 600's are running 12S now).

A lot of my friends at Whittier have been flying their 500's recently, mine, an Atom, had not flown for months. I got it out about a few weeks ago and started flying it again, and realized that I missed flying something in this size range.

It is more comfortable to fly in a smaller area, has plenty of power and zip to do whatever one wants, and is easier to transport.

For the moment, I am seeing more 500 sized machines than any other size at the field. Still some 450s, some 600's, and a few 700's (usually me with the 700's).

The hang time is a bit less than a 550, but more power to weight easily makes up for this (500 size is well suited to 6S).

you guys bring up another good point..
it runs on 6 cell..i had a old 600cf that ran on 6cell and loved it...you could fly more at a cheaper price..after going to 12cell it has cost alot of money since switching..
chargers, power supplies parabords making series connectors ect. ect..
with a 500 being 6cell you just charge and go, you dont need near as many batteries.
