Default Spektrum DX7 heli tx discontinued??

I went to my LHS(hobbytown usa) to buy a DX7 and they did nt have one in stock. I ordered one and told them to make sure it was a heli version. So waited a week it finally came in, I brought it home and it was an airplane version!! I called them and immediately took it back, and the owner told me she tried to order the heli version and said it was discontinued??!! (not sure why she didnt let me know) I think they tried to slip this one past me, like I wouldnt notice the ratcheting throttle evertime I flew my heli!! Anyway, has anyone had this experience with buying a DX7 heli version?

Horizon's Web site shows "out of stock" but says expecting stock in Early Feb.

http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products...rodID=SPMR7710

That is for the TX only... They do have stock of the Heli version with RX and servos.

they are available here: http://www.readyheli.com/DX7_DSM_7Ch..._p/spm2712.htm

no shipping or tax charges.

by the way, sorry to hear about the LHS fiasco, maybe they thought you don't know what you're gettin into. by the way, the heli version is set to Heli mode [vs. ACRO] by default also.

It should have come with the non-ratched piece in the box. I accidentally ordered the airplane version off of ebay and just kept it. The only other thing you need to do is swap the gear and idle up switch positions. The only other difference is that aero are the default bank settings and those are easy enough to change. As far as your LHS, seems pretty shady for them not to mention it to you, even though they admitted they settled for whatever was able to be shipped to them.

Hi,
I was told by my local hobby store that the DX7 was discontinued-- they found out today when they tried to place a new order. Anybody else hear this?

The only thing you'll really find different on the Acro version is that the 3-position flight mode('idle up') switch is on the radio face instead of the top (which is 'gear'/gyro rate switch). They're reversed from the Heli radio positions. It's a little bit of a pain on the face but you get used to it. Somebody here figured out a way to switch them themselves, I'll probably try it at some point if I get bored.

I would think with DSMX out now, rather than have you buy it and then ship it to be upgraded, there is probably a new SKU or model coming with it already upgraded and a little higher price.

That's true, it is their meat-n-potatoes TX, That's probably what they will do, repackaged with the new Rx's. Probably call it the DX7-x or something. I doubt they'll want to drop the DX8 $100 any time in the near future to fill the void.

The dx7 will be discontinued. Asked my sales rep about it this week. It may be some time before it goes away, but It will be leaving us.

More likely they just gonna cut down their model to 1 low end, DX6i, 1 middle class, DX8, and probably 1 high end, whatever that might be.

It could be a good news, by that time, the price of DX8 might be a lot more affordable, close to how much the current price of a DX7.
