Default YEP Vs Castle??

Thinking of ditching my castle ESC's. I got them at first because of the logging feature. Now I have Taranis with Telemetry, it is no longer a need for a ESC to log. That and switching my 450 from 3s to 6s, the Lite 50 no longer reads current properly as it is too low for a accurate reading. That and the active freewheling should help when I want to run low headspeeds. I read a lot of people run YGE and YEP Cost is a big factor for sure, or I would have Kontronik LOL

WHats your thoughts? Do I put this in the upgrades/must do list?

Running both YGE and YEP on almost entire fleet. If using the YEP I just default to a higher voltage. My protos 500, I use a 100A YEP, My Goblin 500, YEP 150, just for safe measure, I figure if the copy doesn't perform to same rating build in a buffer. Gov store works great so I am very happy with performance. My Protos Max came with YGE 160, and my 6s mini has the YGE 60 on it. Performance and ease of setup is great.

Pretty much the same as crickr1 - got two YGEs on stretched and normal Protos (120A and 100A as I managed to get them for decent price) and 45A and 40A YEPs on stretched and 'normal' Mini Titan. All set with Gov Store mode (and the rest) and no desire to go with any other ESC: governor is perfect (for me), never had issues with BEC or anything else. Never had it more than warm - on ~3000RPM on normal Protos with 3mins of Tic/Tocs, 2300 on 6mins of 'regular' flying, nor 1560 when run on 3S (Protos).

BTW stretched MT is on 6S (started on 3S)...

Default Running YEP

Have about 5 YEP's 60A-80A-90A-100A on Protos 500. They work great and they all run the Gov Store. The 90A is the latest which I just purchased and it will be installed next week.

Governor store sets up the governor on the ESC so it doesn't have to be recalibrated every time you plug the esc into the battery.
See: http://www.44ghz.com/yge-60-amp-gov-...overnor-modes/
There's a good sticky on how to set this up correctly in the YGE forum:
https://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=444674
I'm pretty sure it's the same with YEP.

Hope this helps

Did your vendor replace it free of charge?? If so then this is a great example of a dealer standing behind his product. You can not ask for more. Failures do happen ..Just my 2 cents!

Yep is fine. Unless you have a scorpion 2520 motor. Then don't bother.

Totally happy with my YEP (45 and 60 in 360's 6S). Solid BEC feeding MKS 95's all around
Had a YEP 80 that quit working, but that was after 50-70 flights with over geared motor. Had TC veeery low (low RPM AP heli) so some FET must have died.

Bought my Protos used and came with a Kontronic Jazz 80. Oneof the best esc's Ive used. Soft start is smooth and holds the headspeed on my Scorpion motor like a champ. Id buy it for my bigger copters if it wasnt for the price.
