Are the Hacker A40s of any use? http://www.hacker-motor.com/deutsch/motor-a40.html

Looks like they might be available soon. http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showt...&highlight=a40

they look way too big, anything over 200g and 700w is not really practical IMHO

here are two more options I have been looking at, any thoughts?
1.mega RC 600/30/5 kv 890 185 grams 36 mm diameter

2.Neu 1905/2.5y kv 865 181 grams ( it looks like this motor is way too wide at 49mmm)

nothing against the hyperion motor, I just want to explore my options first.

Did you try to e-mail to rc-champ in Japan? (champ_international@yahoo.co.jp )
They are at the good place... Very good price and service. Just received a package from them today.

Really the 800kv motors are too hot for the current gearing we have and 4S. They are certianly useable but you will be in the 60-70% throttle range and still have a pretty high headspeed.

The 600-700kv range is more suited to the current avalible gearing we have for 4S.

I looked at a lot of those motors and none were as good on paper as the hyperion or the hacker. (of course that could be the exact opposite in reality though)

Hello,
Do you mean that the Z3025-10T (815kV) hyperion motor is also a bad choice for 4S? Same for the Hacker A30-10XL (900kV)? I'm in a process to buy a Lepton. So i'm surprised since the Hirobo motor is a 890kV and hirobo is giving it for a 4S setup... Is it only OK for a 3S setup? From Hacker, the A30-12XL (700kV) looks better then?

Thank you for your help.

The Z3025-10T and A30-10XL can be used on 4s and some already do but you will have a low throttle % to keep the headspeed in a safe range.

The lower kv motors like the A30-12XL or Z3025-12T will keep the throttle percentage in the 80-90% range.

Hello i'm running the A30-12xl on 24t pinion and 4s and it runs very well at around 2700 rpm at 90% esc. Motor temps are less than 140f on 7minutes fairly hard 3d

Max amp draw is 44 amps at full pitch or flips
and 22 amps hover.

I will try 26t pinion to get closer to head rpm of the Hyp 3025-10t my friend Nick has been running on 24t- 4s.

The power is good, but Hyp 3025-10t on 4s and 24t is explosive.

I'd estimate his head speed is 200 rpm more.

We're both running Hyp 20c 3700 mah packs.

Hi toyturbo, on Nicks Jeti 70 esc, he's running 90% on idle 1 and 100% on 2.

On our new packs, still breaking them in, I put back 1500 to 2200mah depending how long I fly. We're shooting to get as many minutes of flying and put back a target of 2800-3200mah.

I just did another 2 flights 10 minutes ago !

I have just put in a hyperion 3025-10T, and im only getting 2820rpm at 100% throttle with 24T pinion (kontronic's jazz 55 in governor mode), and thats with my good new batteries, with my 20 cycle old flightpower 3700's I could only get 2600.

Does this sound right? it is a fairly old verison Jazz so maybe that is limiting the rpm. I swapped from my first motor cause it had less head speed than I wanted, but it bogged also which the hyperion doesnt seem to do anywhere near as much.

I am getting that with my 3025-12T and 24 tooth with 97% throttle. I am using a brand new 55-10-32 and TP 4S2P 4200's.
I would think you should have more headspeed than that.

Might want to make sure all your solder joints are good. Possibly a bad one?
