Default Lepton Pinons are coming!!!

I have seen that there is a lack of high quality pinion gears in appropriate sizes for the Hirobo Lepton EX. The stock pinons are not a good match for all power systems and alternatives are impossible to find.

I run a company that imports R/C cars and I have contacts to get high quality hardened steel gears made to the proper specs. These gears will run quiet, true and may out last your heli.

I want to get an idea about the demand for specific sizes so if you could respond to the poll it would be much appreciated.

These will be also be available in the correct sizes and pitch for the Trex 450, 600, Logo 10/14 and Raptor 550E/620E. Check the threads for these helis and vote in the polls for their pinions.

AdrianM,
I would like to see both 20t and 22t pinions for the Lepton. Only allowed to vote once!

I voted 21t which with a Hyperion 10 turn and 4S should be a headspeed of 2,750. This is based on Finless' speed of 3,010 with the 23t.

I know that there is more to account for than just gearing, but only looking at changing gears this is what each should be:

21t 2,748

22t 2,879

23t 3,010

For those wanting 5S you may want a 19T depending on Motor.

I have a web site in development now. It will go live in early January. The pinions will be in stock by mid to late Janaury. As soon as I have confirmation that the pinions have been completed and shipped I will let people start placing orders.

20/21/22 I'm all in. Let us know when they become available, I just want a cooler run and moderately high eadspeed. I gather the stock is too much of a load. Eric

Excellent! What pinion sizes did you end up ordering?

Whatever it is, I'll take one of each and ready to send money whenever you are ready!

Are they the same size as the Hirobo ones? I am talking height of tooth and the shoulder. The Tamiya ones are to short on both aspects.

Thanks for getting these made for us Adrian!

Yes, the same as Hirobo so the teeth are the same width as the main gear. They will have 4mm set screws so you can get them tight too.
