Default new jlog 2.6 and jr dmss setup

I'm new to jlog and have a couple questions on the jr connections. I'm not sure if I'm understanding the website correctly.

I formatted sd card and loaded boot file into jlog for my esc.

Next I connect jlog to reciever (731bx) without the red wire.

1. remove sd card from jlog and delete firmware file?
2. select config.txt and setup selections for jr?
3. where do I setup the alarm triggers, in tx (xg14) or the JLC7?
4. do I need to rebind the rx with jlog?

Sorry if this has been covered before. I searched and couldn't find an exact step by step or video on it.

Thanks,

Derek

so, if youve loaded the boot file to the sd card and have powered jlog with the card installed and watched the leds, it will indicate its been loaded into the system so to speak.

after that, remove the card, remove the file from the card so it doesnt want to reload the fw file everytime its powered up.

then open jlc (jlog configurator), open the config file and all the basics should be already populated.

set the motor poles, pinion and main gear count (this allows jlog to do internal calculations for sending to telemetry)

on the right side, make sure com is set for JR, this is so jlog knows the proper "language" to send data to jr telemetry.

save the config and put the card back into jlog.

you will set your data pulls from the tx and can also set your alarms from tx as well for mah consumtion, temp, etc...

Which ESC? No need to delete firmware file on SDcard, very important to have selected the correct firmware for your setup.

Flash file in root of SD's file system: (This is not a boot image!)

- File name does not matter.

- JLog's boot loader will take this file only
-- if it is for the right platform (differentiating JLog 2.6, 2.5, 2)
-- if the contained firmware version is not already that in CPU's (MCU's) flashROM

(Payload is encrypted but there is a clear text trailer telling the necessary to the boot loader upfront.)

Time eaten by flash file evaluation (not flashing which is done once: needs about 15 seconds) is negligible compared to the time needed to initialize a recognized (SD slot's contact) SD card.

Never have more than one flash file (containing different firmware versions for this platform) on the SD. Otherwise JLog w'd reflash itself at each power-up with another firmware version, - hopping between two versions or even more, depending on the number of flash files in file system. Critical w'd be in this case also that each version modifies the config file (CONFIG.txt) in its own manner.

Everything else is said already, thx to Matt and Vinger!

Regarding alarm thresholds/generation:
JR telemetry does not know about alarms from sensors (JLog), generates alarms by itself in terminal (transmitter).
Set your alarm thresholds in the transmitter only... with one exception:
To be able to perform the "CAPALARMSTOP" (stop mAh alarm if throttle/pwm is below a certain threshold, motor not spinning - after landing or during an AR) you can JLog let generate/control this alarm.
If your JLog is logging (has the appropriate enabler): It makes sense to nevertheless set all alarm thresholds because JLog is logging alarms as well.

Read here - and enjoy Google translator .

Got jlog working with my 200a kk3 pro. Now have 100a kk3 pro with jlog. Repeated the steps as I did previously. Jlog connects and talks to receiver as telemetry screen showing numbers but no data? All 0 and no rpm data. No lights on jlog after power up sequence. Does this mean I have no data going to jlog?

On my KK3pro with the jLog I get 0's on my Jeti until I start spooling up. But I do have a flashing light on the jLog to show it is working (think this shows it is writing to the SD.. will let Tom correct me here )

Hi!

The KingKong (as well as the Hobbywing) does not send any data if no commutation currently (motor not spinning). read

Green LED indicating data reception from ESC. So no flashing at motor stand still.
Orange LED flashing if recording (log). This is also the general alarm indicator, constantly on if an alarm condition is active.
Red LED should never go on in operation (fatal SD error). This LED is used by the bootloader (ON --> blinking during upgrade (flashing from file) --> goes OFF when bootloader starts the application (--> operative mode)).
Blue LED used as data bus activity indicator (JLog communicating to CVS16, HV˛BEC).

LEDs green, orange, red are used during the initial 5-seconds wait loop against "crazy voltage". No meaning, just to keep the user happy. No light show in firmwares for Hobbywing ESC.

Hmm.. Sure that the connection KK3--JLog is ok?
Check against here
What adapter do you use to connect to the KK3?

Please attach from SD: version.txt, CONFIG.txt

Looks good.

Wiring seems to be also ok.

Hmm... Looks like the ESC is dumb. Cannot imagine that JLog is deaf.

Thanks Tom. I will try this jlog on my 200a and see if I can get data to the tx. Any idea of what voltage I should be seeing on the data line from the esc? I have meters and a scope to verify voltages.

Depends.. something between 2 volts and 3.3, in relation to ground (zero volts).

Baudrate is 9600 (8N1), 15 characters payload, start byte is 66 decimal.
Frame rate is every 300ms.
Don't forget: only if motor is spinning.

Idle level is high.

I'll also check on my end with the 100a.

Hifei confirmed it's the same data stream as the 160 and 200a esc, so should be no issue.

Just confirmed, my new jlog is not picking up data. Put it on my known working setup= not working. Put know working jlog on the 100a esc= working and getting telemetry to tx. I tried switching sd cards between the two with no change.

Going to try and reformat the sd card and start everything from scratch once more. Maybe something didn't take.

Strange.. I cannot imagine any issue w/ the config (SD). So a candidate for replacement.

Every JLog undergoes a comprehensive hardware test before leaving R2.

There is a diode (+15k Ohm) series in the line of "signal" (center pin) at JLog's JIVE port. Maximum reverse voltage of that tiny SMD diode is 20V..

The JLog is from Danny? Just ask him for replacement.
