Default Another couple of questions

I've had some issues with the tail 'nodding' just lately.
Tracked it down to the Xtreme 8deg blades as swapping back to the stock blades/head stopped it and the stock blades/xtreme grip don't recreate it.

When I checked the 8deg - the black coating had cracked after a slight incident with a carpet (Don't ask :o) which I would therefore suspect was causing it (??)

So, to the 'newbie' questions - is it ok to use an Xtreme 380 with the HBFP stock blades and is it ok to strip all the black coating (already done) from the woodies?

If so, one has a knot which is a small hole (pin sized) that goes right through the blade; should that be filled and the blades painted, or just left and flown as natural wood?
What would be the best alternative to woodies?

Many thanks for any suggestions
Keith

I cannot answer the woodie question, but I flew the stock blades using the 380X with no problems. I read that a the stock blades do not allow the motor to reach its optimum speed and causes excessive heat and premature wear on the motor. I did not notice any excessive heat buildup in the motor and put more than 50 flights on it before the M24 blades that I ordered had arrived.

Even with the M24s, I do not feel any difference in motor heat. Now that I have an IR temperature sensor, if I had some stock blades, I would make a comparison between the stock and M24 blades.

Thanks Mike - once again, very helpful info.

I'll keep going with the stock blades and see how it goes. The extra power gives enormous lift, but I was concerned about the head speed/heat issue.

I guess I should check out these M24s.
Where did you order yours from?

All the best
