Cool My UFLYS Flys! (Finally...)

Wow! I finally got my UFLYs to fly, having had it for over 2 months without managing to do so. I solved the tail shaft power takeoff pinion problem, learned that mine won't fly with the 3X gyro on, (goes all rogue), and that the servo NOR/REV are wrong on the WALKERA chart (All mine need to be in NORMAL position). I don't know why I didn't notice in all my previous preflights...

Replaced the blades that came in less than 3 days from WOWHobbies (Yay, WOWHobbies!), tweaked a few things, and got her up and hovering (too little room in my backyard to do much else). Not once, but several times, which is pretty good at my age...

It does have a curious vibration. Not present at low headspeeds, but as headspeed comes up it gets pretty violent and does a funky chicken dance, a few more RPM and it disappears, a few more and I'm flying smooth as butter. Its clearly some kind of resonance, a fine wobble that manifests itself at a certain frequency... Can't find it, and since its not affecting flight, not going to chase it.

Lost a pin that secures the tail blade ball link to the slider, replaced it with a snug fitting end of a large thumbtack... McGyver rulz.

All in all a great day! Happy dance!

A buddy at work has suggested we each get a UFLYS. I currently have a CX3 and have gotten pretty comfortable with it.

Is it a smart move?

Honestly not thrilled with the 3x gyro. But liek many things heli, your expereicne may be different. I do like the size though. You can turn off the 3x and make it a HH bird if the 3x doesnt work for you.

Bottom line, I'm ambivalent... You can see my expience on my blog. Still havent been able to get it stable enough to do more than brief hovers. I do however love my CB180D!

I have a UflyS (both stock and hot rod) and a V120D01 (flybarless with 3-axis gyro) and the V120 is much easier to fly and smaller and lighter so crashes don't cause as much damage. I still haven't mastered my Ufly enough to say I'm comfortable flying it without lots of space. I can hold a hover for a few seconds and keep it under control and land it without a crash but I don't want anybody near just in case because if the Ufly hits you or somebody it's going to hurt where the V120 won't.
