Question "Binding" main gear

The main gear on my nano CPX "binds" for about one fifth of its rotation. I have tried running toothpaste on it to no avail. The teeth are OK. This is bad enough to cost me some power.
Any ideas? I have had the same problem on a MCPX v2 before.

Thanks,
Pete

Check the main shaft to be sure its not bent. Also check the bearings to be sure
they are seated properly or there not going bad. Hope this helps.

Sounds like the main gear is out of round...is it tight between the spokes? You may be able to bend it a little.

the pinion shaft is not centered in the motor itself. that way you can spin the motor while its in the mount and adjust for gear mesh. once find the proper position of the motor and the gear spins freely, put a small dab of black silicone on the motor and and mount to keep it in place.

Wow, the off-center pinion was such a simple fix.
It's amazing how something like that can slip by me.

Just when I think I know it all, something like this rears it's ugly head and teaches me to be humble again.

Now to check to see if the older motor was really bad or not.

Thanks ever sooo much!

Pete

I had a brand new nano CPX main gear that was so out of round that I wasn't actually able to use it. I expect a bit better out of a single piece of $3.50 plastic.
