Default n640 or Raven

just like to hear some of your opinions on how these two compare, the n640 is flybarless and the raven is flybared I know that, the raven could be converted.

Without a doubt the n640. It's a much more modern design that's made to work with mom Dean flybarless systems and parts support will last much longer.

Of note, is that you can get the N640 in both an FBL version and an FB version. The FBL version is the CN1320NFBL and the FB version is the CN1320NFB.

That said, there iis a BIG difference between the Raven and the N640. The N640 is a completely NEW design that is on the cutting edge of today's heli designs.

All CNC machined rotor head (FB or FBL)
Slop free push/pull eCCPM control system
Two piece Carbon Fiber frame
Heavy duty clutch system for use with today's high output 55/56 engines
Heavy duty auto-rotation system for use with today's high output 55/56 engines
Attractively shaped and painted high visibility fiberglass canopy
Larger diameter (more rigid) tail boom system
Two point (top & bottom) tail rotor pitch slider
Triple bearing CNC tail rotor
CNC tail rotor transmission
etc. etc,

I loved my Raven in its' day, but the E and N640's are miles ahead of it in all areas. With the 600 to 610mm blades one would have used on the Raven, the N640 is a better performer with teh OS50 and 50 Hyper motors. But unlike the Raven, the N640 can be used with 620mm and 640mm blades when powered by the current high powered OS55 and YS56/60 pumped engines. where it really becomes an extreme machine.

Thanks Motor rotor, I have a n640 and I might have chatted with you about some blades earlier this week(which I haven't made up my mind about yet) and I also have a NIB un touched Raven kit and im trying to decide if I should keep it for the nostalgic side of me, or let it go to a new home since I have the n640

I had the Raven and its upgraded version the NX50, and now I fly the N640.

The raven is a great little machine, very light, and you should not have problems getting parts for quite a while. If you can, I would put it together and fly the crap out of it

From my experience, nostalgia is a crappy reason to keep a heli around, if this is the case, sell it while you can!

I would say though, the N640 from my experience has been a little more reliable, maybe less things to go wrong....it is a simplified design (single stage gearing for example rather then two stage).

FYI, if you dont like the canopy for the Raven, the one from the NX50, G20, and G30 will fit, the N640 will not.
