Starting look at the Lumix cameras
The FX35 shoots in HD (1080p) and weighs in at 125g (minus the battery) with 25-100mm equivalent lens.

Amazon has this camera for $179.00, don't know if it's a good price or not.

What is the lenght of time it will record video in HD?

Mel

It has a 50meg internal capacity in addition to the SD card. I have no idea how long it could record in HD. I am only guessing that with this capacity it will easily do 15 minutes. Certainly a lot longer than any of my flights. This will be my first compact camera also with video capabilities.

Hi Guys,

I think the fx3X cameras will record continuously for 30mins regardless of the memory capacity.

I have been looking at the FX38, which has the same old HD video coupled with a new 25mm lens.

Will be moving forwards with my AP in the next few weeks

How much weight can a 450 handle total for the camera set up? I'm looking at a about 200 grams and am wondering if this is to much.

Hi MTBoy,

AUW for my camera mount is around 300-350grams. I am running 350mm blades though.

I have successfully flown with my G9 camera, which weighs 360g alone. But I don't like stressing the system that much.

You will be fine lifting 200g.

Rangebob, which ccd camera is that underneath? I've been trying to decide how wide a camera there's room for under my Mini Titan - the DPC 480A I'm looking at is not one of the super tiny ones. 30mm^2 I think.

Hobby Wireless carries some very small cameras. They're not cheap, but they sure look nice. I'm considering installing an FPV camera in the cockpit area instead of using a chin mount to avoid having it exposed on the bottom of the heli. My eventual plan is to mount an Aiptek Action HD on the side just like Rangerbob. I might try flying through it too if it doesn't cause problems. Which leads to my question:

Do you have any problems with vibration with that camera and mount? The Aipteks use a CMOS sensor, so I know they are very susceptible to vibration. Do you have any special tricks to reduce vibration, or did you just strap it on the side and fly? I was also thinking about counter-balancing the weight of the camera by mounting the lipo on the opposite side of the frame. Is that really necessary, or can you just trim out the extra weight on the side? Do you have any video posted using that setup?

Sorry for all the questions

Just got my Lumix FX37
Here are the various recording times. As you can see from the chart, an 8GB card will give you about 30 minutes of HD video.

I got a blade 400 and was wondering what and where do you get larger landing gears that easily fit onto the blade??? I've got a little Nikon camera and I'll weigh it tomorrow but it looks the easiest way is to mount a bigger landing gear then suspend the camera underneath the frame and/or from the skids. I just want some in-flight video around the flying field and at friends/relatives houses.

Hi,

Hugocraft, you could try T-Rex 500 skids as they are pretty tall.

l14m, the Rigid is the best "toy" version to get, without going to the profi.
