I ordered stuff to convert to FBL: Tarot head and AR7200BX. Hopefully it will work as good as my X2.

Looks like he lost his orientation for a minute. I took out all of my spare exi blades and started pairing them by balance. Had to correct two pair. I left my align sets alone for now. Trying to decide if I want to go outside in the wind.

Played bunker-buster with it yesterday.

Went up to Ampdraw for parts today, and came back with parts and a 450-X.

Flew 3 times today. Had the high speed wobbles first 2 times, adjusted the blade tracking, and T-C and P-C. Flew alot better. No fancy stuff. just trying to learn as much as i can with each flight.

Knew it was a touch windy, knew I should have flown the X rather than one of the 3Ds...
Too low, Too fast....Too late...
150+ flights on the 450s since my last creative landing....On the bright side, this is the same heli that had the crash that looked like I just landed... I actually glued all breaks back together that time and had about 70 flights on it...don't think glue will fix it this time...
If I did this right, 450 3D oops.jpg and field pic should be attached... The flying field is in the background..area 2-3..Sigh..
Edit: No tail cases or spare 440s available at any of my 3 lhs...back ordered, even aluminum ones...bought an AR7200BX today to change out my 3gx..will fly it a lot more.

parts came in for the FBL conversion so we'll see how far I get this weekend. However, I also had ordered a 450X which also came in today. I know...I am a lost cause. I took the 450X out for a first spin. Pretty nice!

Took it out and showed it to a friend over dinner. And bitched about how I've not had time to get my fix due to work. It's 02:20h here and I'm still wide awake trying to meet some deadlines. Helifreak and the sims are a great distraction...er... diversion....

I'm new to the 450...and CP in general.

Today...I fixed what I broke due to my own ignorance. A loose blade grip jesus bolt took out most of the head....and then I botched the fix by putting the flybar seesaw in wrong.

So I guess what I did today....was learn. All's good now.

Really glad I found this place. There's some knowledgable and helpful folks around here.

Thanks from a newbie.

Yeah, the only box a heli should be in is when it's new..

Hey, that looks just like mine! My training gear got lost in the crash also
It's amazing how much damage these things can sustain from a 12" fall
Back to reality now; I have been having the hardest time learning to fly this 450 3d.
To me it fly's like a brick. I guess I should of got the 450x. The mcpx is such a sweet flyer compared to the 450. Haven't flown anything else but sure would like something not as sloppy.
Anyway, saw your box and had to laugh, mine will probably be in one by the end of the weekend.

To me my 3d was like a beach ball in a rough surf and I couldn't stand it anymore which is why I went fbl.

Flew 5 packs through FB 450 then crashed my newly converted FBL 450. Spooled her up and it tipped over to the right as it got lite on the skids.

I forget my join date, but after 300 flights I am really starting to get forward flight down. this may sound but I am the type to perfect as I go. I take a lot of time to make sure the exercise that I am doing is perfected before going to the next. I find now it is really really paying off. now if FF I dont even think at all, it just happens, nice slow controlled flight - love it. I did a tail out hurricane the other day had never trying any hurricane before and cranked it off no problem with only a 40 by 40 foot space before trees and metal poles would have there say. What I am saying is FINALLY my diligent flying is paying off for me in huge amounts. I dont have a sim and I think that really would speed up 300 flight to maybe 100. anyways -

on another note, the 450 is still fairly stock, running the BLH1665A Aluminium tail rotor drive shaft as I call it. I put the 450X canopy on, and other than that, still all stock.

Still having tons of fun at this, thinking that 550 will be the next machine in my hangar - that is a ways away though.

Went back to it after 4 months on bigger birds. Ditched the stock gyro for a quark, and upgraded servos to metal align. Might need to get the upgrade motor as its just not got enough pop. But flips, loops, backwards circuits and inverted flying was the order of the day. Almost hit the trees more than once

That seems so weird to me because I think the stock setup has an incredible amount of pop. I may be asking a dumb question but is your radio programmed for the advanced settings? I know the difference between us is likely skill level- as in you're probably much higher than I.

Would not know about the skill thing, I'm pretty pants at this 3D lark. I guess I'm just used to 12S power of the 600 and 700.
