Default New 550 Build - Servo Question

I'm going to be building a new Synergy E5. In looking at Futaba servo options I'm down to the BLS451/251 combo vs the BLS272sv/276sv combo. From reading up it seems people have had great success with the 451/251's however they are a car servo and reportedly don't center as well. Am I going to be able to tell the difference between the 2 in a 550 sized heli? There is a significant price difference and I hate to blow unnecessary cash. Thanks!

BLS451 are universal servos and have excellent centering. I Have several sets of them and even use them on 720 size helicopters with good success. If you are using them on a flybarless helicopter you will never feel and difference.

If you are a competation FAI pilot then the more expensive servos may be worth it but 99% of the flyers will never know the difference in flight.

BLS257SV are a little better so if you have lots of extra money go ahead and get them if you like. As for me I like to spend my extra money on more battery packs and better radios. What radio do you have?

Thanks for reply Mike. You confirm what I kinda figured. I'm running a DX9 right now which I'm enjoying. I'll save the money for an extra lipo .

Yes the BLS451 is technically a "car servo" and Futaba will reportedly tell you there is a difference in dead band around center in their car servos vs. hell servos.

With that said, you will see TONS of people have been using the BLS451s successfully for years in hell. I've got two sets of BLS451s in helis myself, and always been completely satisfied with them.
