Default MD6 maiden= WooooHoooo!

Bought MD6 airframe from ChuckL (thanks Chuck!), the "plan" was pick up needed goodies to get her flying as I found "good deals" here on HF.
Well, that didn't happen(read as impatient)...all items arrived on Christmas eve. AClick image for larger version

ID:	627499s usual, I spent more time on wiring than on the actual component installation.
Only issue I ran across was not MD related, was regarding tight fit of Secraft arms on my shiny new KST brushless servos.
Sent Matt @ mdhelisusa an email (on Christmas eve now) not really expecting an answer anytime soon (is Christmas eve after all)...well in minutes I have a reply from Matt filling me in on the arms and how to install them (now that is service! ) so the build continued. ..

Got her all buttoned up day after Christmas, just needed rain to subside. ..and today was just fine.

My best maiden yet!
The MD just seems made for the Spartan vortex....or vice versa. ..either way. ...she just flies awesome!

Particulars:
Futaba S-bus
Scorpion 4035-500 12s
Hobbywing 100a v3 HV esc
Hobbywing 20a BEC
KST brushless servo on cyclic and tail
Spartan Vx1e fbl

Glad all went well and you are happy. It's hard to beat MD helis super simple design, tough as nails and they fly so well. I'm just finishing up my 800 to go with my 700.

Every heli flyer should have a 800. My MD8 2+ years flying and never had a mechanical failure. Flies the best of anything else I owned.

Are you running 12 or 14s on the 800 and what size blades. I have mine set up for 12s but motor and esc are both 14s capable.

I am pleased to hear you are enjoying the Vortex. Bert Kammerer did an amazing job with Heli Wizzard. He tuned the Vortex in 70+ different helicopter/blade combinations; then used this data to make the Heli Wizzard. As you experienced, it feels tailor made for every heli because it practically is.

Default How Neat!

The man himself behind the Vortex commenting on my little thread...just too cool!
I tried a few other systems, and just figured with my meager piloting skills I wouldn't notice the difference...mostly true...could get them flying pretty decent I thought...
I then picked up a Vx1e for cheap...and just couldn't believe how incredibly stable,locked-in, responsive this unit was after just following the standard setup procedure.
The gov just amazes me...using esc's from Hobbywing (12s on my 600's, Polaris flashed with BLHeli on my 500, and stock Eflite 70a on the blade 500's) just worked with all of them.
I figured it was a fluke (first bird was a Blade 500x), then my Trex 600, then my Trex 500, a Blade 450, and finally MD6...no fluke, no kidding...all flew nearly perfect for my tastes.
Just crazy considering the vast variables in components, kit qualities, and build skills.

Thank you Angelos for all you do, and have done.
And thank you for taking the time out of your schedule to read and respond to my thread!

Jamie
