Don, I thought you settled on 1900 for the H.S.? How are you liking 1950? I'm running mine governed @1900 but think I have headroom in the cc to bump up to 1950.

Thanks GRIMX, and HeliGriff !

hidaven

I did run 1950 for a while but I needed just a bit more overall agility and didn't want to increase the pitch. It's amazing how just 50 RPM will change the performance of your heli. I went up 10 RPM at a time and stooped at 1950. If I remember correctly I could take it over 2000 and castle still had some headroom. I did one flight at 2000 and it was a little nerving at the sound and speed.

The landing HS is 1580 with +6 -2°

Thanks, that sound is pretty amazing isn't it? I can't wait to put a set of Edge 813's on it... It will be even louder. When I get the nerve to fly down low, it's even louder. Kind of addicting And seeing that long tail boom swinging around, this bird provides allot of unique visual and audible sensations. Yea, I'm kind of weird like that.

Are you worried about tail blade strikes with the edge 813s?

Hi,
I've watched this video several times since you first posted it with the thread.
I hope that you will record many more.

I Finally got the courage to say how envious I really am of you.
Great flying obviously, with your well practiced technique, and what an incredible big beauty.

Good times are ahead for you.
Enjoy that wonderful helicopter.

I wish, some day... I'd be more than happy with just 1/4 of your skills friend.

Ah, please carry on!!

By the way, I think those reflective bits look quite brilliant on your blade tips.
I will definitely be applying some to my 700 E..

Chas

No worries about clearance. There is at least 30mm clearance now with 800mm blades so the additional 13mm will clear with no problem. Will have to keep fresh dampers installed and the blades tight.

ChasCS

Thank you for the kind words...It is encouraging and inspires me to keep at it. There is a ton of simulator time involved, but in the end, that beast of a heli does all the work.

Here is the prismatic tape I use. It holds up very well and is very thin. Use windex to apply them and smooth it out with a soft cloth. I have the wide strip on the tips on the top of the blade and a smaller strip on the inside of the bottom of the blade. This way I can see either a large rainbow circle (top) or a small rainbow circle (bottom) giving me instant orientation.

Tim, instead of watching videos, why dont you and your friends figure out why this pathetic head design keeps wearing out the DFC dampners and feathering shaft sleeves????? And seriously Tim, if there were inherent problems with the DFC 700 using the existing white gears what makes you think they would be any better under incresed loads of the 800? From the crappy OWB block to the undersized skids, to the ABSURD prices for replacement parts?

Align needs to admit their mistakes and solve these issues FREE OF CHARGE. yes, like most respectful AMERICAN companies do........

hidaven what is your setup on the 700 dfc you own or 800 you own I like to see a pictures of your dfc dampeners after 50/ 100 flights, and spindle sleeve , Aligns Factory pilots Colin,Jamie just to put there names out there fly harder then most do. (PM) Preventative maintenance is part of ownership of a heli just constantly fly and wait for something to brake or worse blow up just doesn't make sense flying heli with all this power.
