Default New motor for the Nano CPX

Hey guys,

I made a motor for the Nano CP X.
Its similar in performance to the brushless motor, and it costs 2/3 of the stock replacement.
To good to be true?

Wait for it..

Im giving away the first 100 of them!

Note:
- You might have to muck around with the plug/wiring. Maybe my double-plug solution creates too much resistance.
- You will have to fit your own pinion.

No problem...

I am assuming that the motor shaft is .10, correct? So the stock motor pinion will fit?

The shaft diameter is 1mm. I just added that to the description

That'll work...

I've got 1mm pinions in 7-8-9 and 11 tooth varieties...stock is 8, so I might just try a 9 and see what happens

I am on the verge of retiring my nano due to motor frustrations! If I wasnt going away and unable to fly for few weeks, I would have ordered! I will keep a close eye on this!

Got mine ordered. Nice one ...thanks.

Only problem is I now regret throwing away all my old motors...with pinions

If anyone has any burned out motors and wants to sell me their pinions pls drop me a pm.

Cheerz

I've only had experience with the stock 7t pinion.
I actually just found one in my bits box so am good to go.

Another thought...
I just stacked my FETs on my pjacq mild brushless ESC setup. It made a big improvement to torque performance.
Has anyone tried stacking the mainboard fet for the main brushed motor? If so, any difference??
I'm tempted to try this for the new motor tests
Cheers..

Opps I guess you are right about the stock being a 7t...I was thinking of the mCPX @ 8t I guess...

I wonder what an 8t or 9t would do?

Been thinking....
I can't see how the gear mesh would work if we increased the number of teeth.
Is this possible? I have no experience in this, so just asking.

It seemed to work ok...I put an 8t on a stock motor and did a test flight...mmm not bad...so I took it off to try a 9t...and popped the motor cap off

Hopefully the MMW motors will have better caps

So I guess a 9t should have a higher headspeed but less torque??

Default New motor for the Nano CPX

End caps popping off is a common problem on these motors. We crimp them as hard as possible without breaking cap or deforming the housing, but it still makes sense to apply as little force as possible and support the cap while pushing.

I have bulk loads of 9T pinions: http://micro-motor-warehouse.com/pro...-for-1mm-shaft

Our motors tend to have more torque than other motors with similar coil speed. If someone of you can get the 9T pinions to work, I would include them with the motors in the future. But I assume the mesh will be too tight.

I did not find a wholesale source for pinions smaller than 9T with 1mm shaft, and reducing the shaft diameter didn't work out either..

From what I can tell, the 9t pinions will NOT work...adding 2 teeth from the stock 7t configuration makes the mesh too tight and the motor binds

I've tried an 8t and it seemed to work as well or better than the stock 7t

I ordered 3 .

The last stock motor on the shelf at my LHS has a price tag of 19.99 CAD. So these are a pretty sweet deal for me, especially getting one of them for free!

I have a couple 7t and 8t pinions to muck around with. I had alright results with an 8t using the 8.5mm motors.

As of right now I'm using an HH BL 'upgrade' so I'll be updating my thread soon, although Benedikt just solved all of my previous issues for me!
Thanks Benedikt for making these!
